Figgyrolls · 23/02/2011 22:28

I actually can't watch the news without wanting to implode myself, infact dh has insisted on watching it tonight and quite frankly am too depressed. I know its life but quite frankly.........just pleased my friend has left libya safely.

findingthepath · 23/02/2011 22:29

May advice is to stop reading/watching the news.

Problem solved, next Grin

Pancakeflipper · 23/02/2011 22:29

And MN has gone slightly bonkers lately...

findingthepath · 23/02/2011 22:30

How has MN gone bonkers - can you give a few examples?

Pancakeflipper · 23/02/2011 22:32

I could but then I might end up disappearing like various threads and various people... Too risky...

southeastastra · 23/02/2011 22:33

you could say the same about any year

southeastastra · 23/02/2011 22:35

we were all going to die of aids in 1985

bupcakesandcunting · 23/02/2011 22:37

The end is nigh, folks. You're in denial if you think otherwise.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 23/02/2011 22:45

for some reason, your OP made me think of

think it was your list Grin

end has been nigh for centuries. there's always something.

mankind is always on the brink of exterminating itself.

We're really very stupid indeed.

FellatioNelson · 23/02/2011 22:46

I agree. Watching the news in the last couple of weeks has been the most depressing thing ever. There doesn't seem to be any let-up, just one crap disaster story after another.

bupcakesandcunting · 23/02/2011 22:50

The next disaster on my prediction list...

Katie Price Will Marry Agaaaaaaaaain

eddiemccready · 23/02/2011 22:51

Don't be mentioning Ireland in that list. we might be short a few bob, but have come through worse. don't you know we are gods chosen people? when the world ends all that will remain will be ireland. that is why there are snakes everywhere else, because you are all marked as bad. we dont have any snakes so we are marked as good. My grandad told me that so it must be true Grin

southeastastra · 23/02/2011 22:59

and we'll all have a nice cup of tea Grin

reddisc · 23/02/2011 23:01

Lol eddiemccready Grin my gran told me that too only my nans version was the irish people would be saved if they returned to mass

Jordan Takes a Third is on the Mayan calendar, you dolt.

sevenkeystomysoul · 23/02/2011 23:09

I felt exactly this way today. I haven't actively taken in either news or newspaper since DD was very ill two years ago, but I was compelled to read about Libya and the NZ quake today, plus a local rag which had a front page story about child abuse. It left me feeling very, very sad and hopeless. There's a song that has always touched me by Everything But The Girl, not sure if it's a cover, but one line goes, 'it's time to hold your loved ones while the chains are loosed, and the world runs wild'. That's pretty much my philosophy now. We can't do great things, we can only do small things with great love, like hold our children that little bit tighter and do our best to send them out there with everything they need.

NormanTheForeman · 23/02/2011 23:10

Oooh, SEA, did you mention a cup of tea???

blankstare · 23/02/2011 23:15

Sevenkey, I was singing that dong to myself today.

It's called 'the night I heard Caruso sing'.

The preceding line is 'I've thought of having children but I've gone and changed my mind, it's hard enough to watch the news let alone explain it to a child' Sad
