Richard Keys v Beyonce???

I know this is old news now, but it's been bugging me greatly.

R. Keys calling a woman 'IT'.

Didn't Beyonce call a woman 'IT' in that song "If you like it then you should have put a ring on it".??

DH says I am wrong, am I?

Also, if I am right with regards to the meaning of this song, does that mean it's okay for a woman to say it, but not a man?

i presumed she meant to put a ring on her finger "it" being the finger.

I think the "If you like it, you should have put a ring on it..." refers to the ring finger not the woman. It's a fairly common saying in the US, I think. I'd certainly heard it a long time before this song.

Isn't it - liked it...their relationship/what they had together, and the other it - her finger? confused

I also think she meant 'finger.'

Why would he like her finger? Or maybe I shouldn't ask. I assumed she was talking about herself as a whole.
