in the argument of 'you were a child once'?

Most people I know who dislike the sound of children or even those with dcs of their own who would like a child free evening once in a while are met with this from time to time.

While it is true that they were once children, it doesn't mean they should like everything about children.

AIBU to not really see the logic? If I am, please explain why.

I think its just another way of saying live and let live, which isn't a bad way to look at life IMO.

I hate this argument too - because usually the people using it are allowing their children to behave in a way that I'd never ever have dared behave as a kid... And sometimes wouldn't even have occurred to me to act!!!
