but in reality they are just designed to spread huge crumbs everywhere when you slice them and then when you eat them, leaving you with only half a break roll (once all the crumbs have come off)?

or cut your gums to shreds.

parakeet · 21/02/2011 21:27

French bread is the worst for that - so nice while you're eating it, afterwards you pay.

StealthPolarBear · 21/02/2011 21:28

I haven't actually got round to eating them yet (they are for lunch tomorrow) so will look forward to that, thanks!
Does anyone actually like the things?

saintfranksdisco · 21/02/2011 21:29

They're a bit chewy the next day though.

mollymawk · 21/02/2011 21:30

YA sooooo NBU.
Crusty rolls are just an explosion waiting to happen.
And then all the bits that aren't on the floor stick to the roof of your mouth.

StealthPolarBear · 21/02/2011 21:32

so given this huge representative sample, who is buying the damn things (other than me of course - they were all that was left)

How about the ones with the sesame seeds on top? Grin

jalopy · 21/02/2011 22:07

I always think that about coffee.

Can't stand the after taste of it.

compo · 21/02/2011 22:09

StealthPolarBear · 21/02/2011 22:34

OOooooh YANBU

and I hate it hate it hate when they fool you with their golden brown globe-y crustiness, luring you in with untold promises of soft fluffy white bread inside...you plunge the knife and....

A HUGE EFFIN AIR BUBBLE UNDER THE CRUST and half inch of doughy bread cowering at the base Angry

Impossible to eat with dignity as well

StealthPolarBear · 21/02/2011 22:50

well mine are sandwiches
unless I dislocate my jaw there is no way i will be able to get my mouth round them
So I will have to squash them slightly, and am anticipating the crumb fest now
Think I may eat in the canteen - it will be less embarrassing

Mmmm...now I want crusty rolls/french stick with 'dippy' camembert...crumbs be damned. You know everyone else will be jealous of your crumby lunch when they are masticating dry, flat Hovis! Wink
