Why do they have to be deleted? :(

Especially as I have seen some in classics? Whats the difference??

I know its just the attention they're after, and we should ignore attention seekers, but some are just comic genius. They deserve to be read by all and praised for their ability to gather enough Biscuits to feed a starving country

You call them troll threads, but to be honest there was nothing wrong with the pub thread, I agreed with the Op whole heartedly.

Just because somebody posts something contentious does not mean it is a troll thread.

People are entitled to their opinions isn't that what internet forums are for?

Yes, definitely
we need more troll threads!

Right, I'm new around here and just learning the lingo. Be gentle with me.

So I'm thinking that Trolling isn't necessarily a bad thing then? I really enjoyed the pub thread, it was hilarious.

So what if it is made up if it's funny and nobody gets hurt? Or does that statement expose my greenhorn status and MN naivity?

And while I'm at it, am I right in thinking that you have to have uber thick skin in the first place to even think of starting a thread on AIBU? Is it like the 'heavy weight' or 'premier league' message board?

I said on another thread that I think boobjob and that 7 weeks pregnant one are the same person, (same writing style). I don't believe a word of them but they are very entertaining.
Yes novella is a good word, would hate to see them disappear, I want to know what happens next!

FabbyChic · 20/02/2011 23:34

I have had message contact with boobjob and happen to believe her, you don't generally get someone giving away personal information about themselves in PM's if they are talking bollocks.

It seems if something good happens to someone it must be bullshit.

Shame that life is like that on internet forums.

If it isn't all bad it must be a troll.

poochela · 20/02/2011 23:35

LeninGrad - I don't think I've got the minerals to start a thread on AIBU.

poochela · 20/02/2011 23:44

Also, where are these 'classics' of which you speak OP? How do I find them?

Do you have some sort of dowsing tool to spot a troll thread? Hmm

Must say I find it a bit irritating sometimes when people express scepticism about the validity of what someone is saying without any sound basis for this

Pancakeflipper · 20/02/2011 23:59

In the last few weeks I have read a thread, laughed my head off at the opening OP, thought of 'hilarious witty asides' then read the other comments from other MN'ers and they seem think it's genuine..

I don't trust my own judgement at the moment. I cannot troll spot. Bugger.

Sorry Maryz - didn't mean you really, was addressing the OP. I have a similar approach to you - give posters the benefit of the doubt but if I smell a rat, simply do not post

hmc okay, I do not necessarily mean a thread by a troll per se, just one that is so truly ridiculous that you would think it could not possibly be real.

PS I also didnt say I agreed with people shouting "TROLL", its often funniest when people do (for a while at least) believe the OP to be genuine and disagree with them strongly.

Again, to emphasise for anyone that missed it, I do not mean on the serious threads! I mean things like the kids in pubs thread

BuzzLiteBeer · 21/02/2011 11:22

I don't believe anyone who says they agreed with the the pub OP wholeheartedly, nobody is that rabidly ridiculous about something so innocuous.
