Well had one last month, but this will be the first summer in 16 years that will be wedding free. I'm so happy its made me look forward to the summer so much. Dh and I have just wracked our brains and we are 99.999% there will be no invites, not even an evening one. Bliss

it's early days, you never know...

We have 3 so far. It's definitely that stage of our lives.

geezakiss · 21/02/2011 06:22

So far I only have one to go to this year - my own Grin

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 21/02/2011 06:27

Fair warning: the first year that the weddings dried up was the first year the baby shower invitations came rolling in.

And baby showers are much, much duller. Much less champagne, as a rule, and no men to flirt with.

There is still time for people to invite you for this year!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 21/02/2011 07:09

:o Me too! Not a wedding in sight! Lovely. There is a definite christening though and probably another one later in the year but they're not all-dayers at least.

Bumpinthenight · 21/02/2011 07:20

I agree.
Baby shower number 1 next week and it's themed shudder.

LaWeasel · 21/02/2011 07:22

I am planning my first rejection. It's an evening invite hundreds of miles from our house and in the opposite direction of willing overnight baby sitters.

I feel guilty though.

gillybean2 · 21/02/2011 07:29

Are you forgetting your invite to the royal wedding!?

If there is nothing happening near you for this it's time you got on woth organised a street party instead! Especially as you are free and have a wardrobeof clothes to call on Grin

Piggles · 21/02/2011 07:47

We had four weddings last year, I can't say I really enjoyed any of them [miserable cow] at one we spent 2 hours on a hot July afternoon waiting outside with nothing to eat or drink while the bride and groom had a twatty special photo shoot Angry

This summer we have no wedding invites. Bliss. I am overjoyed to be able to spend my money on crap for myself rather than a new outfit and a gift.

YouCantTeuchThis · 21/02/2011 07:50

You are getting old! Wink

compo · 21/02/2011 07:53

Me too Grin
I'm sure the second weddings will start soon though!
I've only got one friend cohabiting who I think will get married
the rest are either married or long term singletons or gay

slugz · 21/02/2011 07:54

Another loner here. I don't think I've been to a wedding in about 10 years.

gillybean2 · 21/02/2011 08:13

Me too slugz. Well actually I have been to one in the last couple of years, but it was a pagan wedding excuse for a piss up in a field.

Prior to that was my nephew's wedding around 10 years ago.

its a sign of age though....when the weddings start to dry up its christenings you get invited to......then there is a bit of a gap until the 40th birthdays.......then the 5oth and the retirements......then the funerals!

I havent been to a wedding for ages and I miss them Sad

ValiumSandwich · 21/02/2011 08:22

No, I hear you. So much expense, so much shopping for something to wear, a present, all the organisation, arranging childcare.... and I'm single, which is not a problem for me going anywhere else, I'm brave at arriving places on my own and so on.. but for some reasons at weddings, where there's a lot of standing around and everybody sticking with who they came wth... i hate it.

ValiumSandwich · 21/02/2011 08:23

In fact, I just decided now, I will never go to another wedding again. Maybe my daughter's.

MamaVoo · 21/02/2011 08:24

I love a good wedding but have none to go to this year - although we have a pagan one to go to next year. It's definitely a sign of age as now we have the 40th birthdays coming round.

mrsgetonwithit · 21/02/2011 08:29

I think I may have the record.

37 in one year.

ha ha ex wedding photographer.

me i hate weddings now.
