To be a tad evangelical about stopping smoking?

Early days, but I'm 4 weeks smoke-free thanks to mumsnet, Allen Carr and champix from my lovely smoking-cessation nurse.

I was a slave to the demon weed and now I'm free. Halle-looya! Thanks to all who posted. x

I've just spotted a lovely support thread in chat that I think deserves a more permanent place here and a wider audience.

If it's crossed your mind at one time or another that really, you'd rather not smoke, you never intended to get hooked, etc, please take a look.

Will any of us, on our deathbed, be croaking, 'If only I'd smoked more fags!'

That's fantastic well done to you Grin

bibbitybobbityhat · 19/02/2011 22:49

Well done!

I might have been one of those supporting you.

Please don't ever have another one again. Not ever. Not even when you are really pissed and your mate is saying "just one won't hurt" and you suddenly have an uncontrollable craving.

Just don't, ok?

roomonthebroom · 19/02/2011 22:51

Thanks for the link. I have patches, gum and inhaler and am going to make Monday my first day. I'll join in the chat then.

Well done on 4 weeks smoke free :)

bigbeagleeyes · 19/02/2011 23:00

Yes, well done.
Good advice Btbbity
You can never, ever just have one. After I was smoke free for almost a year and a half I thought I could just have the one. And as that was ok a week later I had another. Within a couple of weeks I was buying tobacco again.

Hey Room come over! pre-quitters welcome. I'm on my first day as a non smoker but I started it a few days ago.

tallwivglasses · 19/02/2011 23:20

Just remember that all smokers are weak willed addicts and that you are a fundamentally better person than them. They won't mind you telling them that. Daily.

tallwivglasses · 19/02/2011 23:58

Tiggy? Confused

I was a weak-willed addict for decades. Still am probably. Don't be mean.
