I used a local courier company to send 2 large packages to mainland UK. I contacted them by phone and they asked for the usual contact details and a description of the items including dimensions and weight. I wasn't sure of the weight so had to estimate and they assured me that both packages would not cost more than £30 inclusive of VAT to transport. He said they'll weigh them and let me know the exact price. The packages were collected (the items were returns so sent in the same packaging as they had arrived in, virtually in the same condition). Next thing i heard from the receipients of the parcels that both the packaging and the items were received damaged. They sent some photos and i forwarded them onto the courier company. The couriers have said that since they are only insured to a maximum of £30 per consignment that is all they can pay after my claim is assessed. I was not informed of this beforehand and I assumed that my parcels will be transported safely and that the firm were fully insured. AIBU to expect a full compensation? Not sure where the law stands on this
