I have been ill for 2 weeks. First it was a bad cough, then it turned into a cold (i know there is nothing they can do for a cold) but now my neck, my shoulders, my head, my jaw and my face hurt!

Could this be the start of a sinus infection or is it just still part of a bad cold and i just need to sit it out?

I dont want to waste the docs time but i am sick of being sick and its getting worse not better.

So aibu?

Sounds like a sinus infection or a type of flu.

Plenty of fluids and bed rest will do it, no need for the doctors.

Take lots of home remedies, day nurse, paracetomol etc.,

littlewish · 18/02/2011 14:49

YANBU. Go down and have a quick chat, if you need something get it and hope you feel better soon.

got2bequackers · 18/02/2011 14:51

I know its not flu . I had flu in dec and my body is still functioning (actually i have stupidly been forcing myself into work which i def couldnt do with flu)

In fact i would be fine if i could remove my head the rest of me is fine!

Will a sinus infection clear without antibiotics??

I went to the Walk in centre just before Christmas because I had a chest infection that wasn't shifting. Was pg at the time and so the docs were useless. Walk in centre couldn't give me anything but they were unbelievably thorough. If I hadn't been pg they would have sorted it for sure, were fab.

manicbmc · 18/02/2011 14:54

Probably. Chances are your immune system is still a bit knackered after the flu. I'd go and get checked out for your own peace of mind.

I've had virus upon virus since October and am now seeming to be more prone to infections.

NellieForbush · 18/02/2011 15:18

If I had been ill for two weeks and was getting worse I would go to the Drs. YANBU.

Its not unusual to get a (bacterial) sinus infection following a virus. If you feel very poorly/lot of pain/prolonged high temp go and talk to a Dr - you may genuinely need antibiotics.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 18/02/2011 15:49

Can also echo manicbmc. I had a chest infection that turned into pneumonia which lasted till early January. Couldn't have loads of meds or any x rays because I was pg (had mc since). Now am ill again with bad chest and ear infection and I am convinced it's because I wasn't properly 'cured' so I'm catching everything that's going. It's best if you get it sorted out properly.

TallulahDoesTheHula · 18/02/2011 15:51

I've had several sinus infections and despite a couple of Drs telling me that they dont like to give antibiotics for sinusitus any more and that it clears without them, my infections have never cleared without antibiotics, they just get worse!

got2bequackers · 18/02/2011 15:58

I spoke to a pharmacist, he gave me some sinus decongestant and said if it was not starting to clear by mon i should see the doc. So am going home to have a hot bath with some olbas oil vapour and take my decongestants.

Poor dh he has been the model of a husband ~ oh i must be sick i dont often say stuff like that!

Thank you ladies and i am sorry to hear so many of you are poorley too. Its rubbish! Isnt it!

got2bequackers - I'd urge you to visit the GP and get a blood test done. I had the same symptoms as you and it tuns out I was very ill and going to the GP and having my bloods checked actually saved my life. Don't mean to scare/worry you but whenever I hear of people feeling the way I felt I just want to urge them to get themselves checked out.
