combined Childrens party, invitation protocol

I am teaming up with another mum of dds friend to have a combined party as their birthdays are the same week. Were are having a MacDs party and have sent separate invites to the childrens respective friends. We did not want to put that it was a combined party on their invitations we did not want the parents to feel that they had to buy a present for each child, were we right?

Are they in the same class at school?

pigletmania · 17/02/2011 19:43

They are at preschool, dds friend does mornings and dd does afternoons, so different sets of kids.

yes i think thats fine , I have had a joint party for my ds and another child in his class and i sent out invites to the boys and the other child sent invited to the girls (she is a girl) that way they dont feel obliged to buy two presents :)

If they are different sets of kids altogether I think your way is good actually.

giantfrillypigpants · 17/02/2011 19:45

We had one of these recently and it was a joint invite but had a little bit on the bottom about IF we wanted to buy a present please bring one and not label it with either childs name and they would divvy them up at the end. I thought that was nice.

In that case, I think it's quite reasonable. It would be odd to expect the attendees to buy a gift for a child they don't know and who, technically, didn't invite them.

pigletmania · 17/02/2011 19:46

Yes they are, because the children go at different times of the day, they dont know the kids in each others session.

The thing is giantfrilly dds friend is a boy into pirates, and cars and knights so not into the things dd is into.
