I think tattoos can be fab works of art when done right. I don't have any myself, but OH has them on his back and upper arms and they look good.

But green and red and black stars? It looks like a kid has drawn them Confused

Why?!

God, you'd regret that wouldn't you !

Almost everyone I know has star tattoos.. They are a bit to common nowerdays.

TotemPole · 16/02/2011 18:32

Isn't that the girl that tried to sue the tattoist?

sowhatis · 16/02/2011 18:35

a few of the mums at kids old school used to have them, one started it and rest followed. tack tack tack.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 16/02/2011 18:37

Yes. She claimed that she had only asked for 3 or something and -

don't laugh now -

fell asleep while being tattooed and woke up with 50-odd stars on her face.

Yes. You read right. Tried to claim she fell asleep while a tiny little needle was being rammed repeatedly into her face.

Now, I had a baby who woke up every 2 hours, every night, for the first 15 months of his life and even at the end of that, I would not have slept through 50 little tattoos on my face!

I admire her balls though. Grin

you are perfectly entitled to cringe about whatever moves you in that way, just as others may cringe about your dh's tats. No need to share your feelings with your friend obv.

NancyDrewHadaClue · 16/02/2011 18:40

I was getting my hair done today and every one of the 6 female hairdressers had stars either on their feet or neck.

expatinscotland · 16/02/2011 18:41

You're well-entitled to cringe, but in the interest of friendship it's probably best to keep it to yourself.

UltimateFucker · 16/02/2011 18:46

I have a friend who has unfortunately suffered 4 miscarriages, she has four coloured stars on her neck for each child she lost....
The beautiful thing about tattoos is that you dont have to tell people the reasons behind your tattoo, it is generally people without tattoos that are so intrigued/snobby about them.

itssnotfunny · 16/02/2011 18:57

im not a fan myself but i did see someone with a nice swirly black thing on her foot with her flip flops on and for first timein my life thought hmmm that looks nice for abeach holiday - can you get them henna ones from anywhere and how long fdo they last?

pointydog · 16/02/2011 19:01

stars are the current cliche of tattoos

smokinaces · 16/02/2011 19:07

im gutted stars are so popular now. I had two very small plain black filled ones on my back 7 or 8 years ago for personal reasons. Now it looks like I followed a trend. Gah.

moondog · 16/02/2011 19:08

What,as opposed to impersonal ones?

moondog · 16/02/2011 19:09

tatooed hand is nasty. Likewise any man with a tatooed neck or face screams "I've been in jail".

Fow woman, screams 'I am as fookin ruff as a bear's arse.'

smokinaces · 16/02/2011 19:13

moondog was that to me about the personal/impersonal?

I meant personal as in there was a reason behind the tattoos more than I liked the pattern. I have seen many people gets tattoos because they look at a nice design as opposed to picking something that means something to them IYSWIM?

smokinaces · 16/02/2011 19:14

and agree I dont like hands or necks tattooed - I have the small of my back and a small upper arm one so they can be hidden as I chose them for me. I have also worked in professional environments where obvious tattoos would not work.

They're very useful as an indicator of someone's class.

Why don't you ask? if she is as rough as some seem to think she must be on here I am sure you will get an, um, exciting response!

wheretonow · 16/02/2011 19:19

I have one too, it is not visible unless I want it to be and I love it, it is very pretty and it means a lot to me and reminds me of a very happy time.

MadameOvary · 16/02/2011 19:19

Three of my friends have tattoos, done in their 20's. I never saw the appeal. They all now regret them.

LadyOfTheManor · 16/02/2011 19:19

I have 3 friends from back in our uni days who have star tattooed feet. I'm glad I didn't follow suit-they look so tacky.

LadyOfTheManor · 16/02/2011 19:20

Madame-I wonder if they're the same 3 people I know!

ChaosTrulyReigns · 16/02/2011 19:20

I'm just wondering if stars on the hand are the modern NotchesOnThe Bedpost?
