I have noticed this often recently. Is AIBU the new _chat?

OP posts:
TotemPole · 15/02/2011 11:59

Apparently it's busier than other places, so more likely to get a wider range of replies.

brokeoven · 15/02/2011 12:01

and you want some debate dont you.
am i or am i not? even though secretly you hope that you are not, you just want some reassurance some times and wonder what would other people do/think.

squeakytoy · 15/02/2011 12:01

I think the Chat board is just as busy tbh.

ShirleyKnot · 15/02/2011 12:02

ahh psammead you live in Deutchland! I LOVE your house, i used to live in Germany and have SO many very happy memories. I so wish that i had taken up German lessons to keep the language when i got home.
You are SO lucky! Grin
It is such a gorgeous country isnt it.

MardyBra · 15/02/2011 12:04

Stop chatting and start being unreasonable ffs.

brokeoven · 15/02/2011 12:05

sorry Blush not stalking just looking at folks profiles today!

brokeoven · 15/02/2011 12:05

okokok,

whats the problem? I can post where i want to and you are NOT going to tell me what to do...

hows that?

is that unreasonable enough?

Grin
MardyBra · 15/02/2011 12:06

OP YANBU to ask this question (I did last week too)

Psammead · 15/02/2011 12:09

Shirly Grin

At least I made the effort to try and phrase it like a genuine AIBU.

I just like seeing how very unreasonable people are.

Thanks, brokeoven I like my house too. Germany is nice! I miss 'home' sometimes though.

Less chat, more bunfight! Grin

seeker · 15/02/2011 12:12

Mostly, they are looking for the response "No no no, you are not being unreasonable - on the contrary, you are the most fabulous super-mother on the Planet"

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 15/02/2011 12:13

It's because they want a moan and rant! Hth Grin

Psammead · 15/02/2011 12:15

I don't mind those desperately looking for advice, posting in the full knowledge that they are in the wrong section.

I can more of less live with those posting 'AIBU to think that murdering people with axes is not a very nice thing at all, actually'

But to those who post along the lines of 'I just ate a cream cake and it was scrummy' I say 'get ye to _Chat!'

"AIBU to have cleaned my house from top to bottom so that it smells of polish and lemons, and to have a wonderful boeuf en daube simmering on the Aga for supper tonight, and to be all ready to do some lovely creative things with my dcs when they come in from school"

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 15/02/2011 12:29

Yes, you slattern!

Psammead · 15/02/2011 12:32

AIBU to do charity work for little puppies whose mummies are drug addicts even though it might cut into my crocheting cardigans for chilly penguins time?

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 15/02/2011 12:33

YANBU to wonder that.

PigValentine · 15/02/2011 12:34

YANBU. Especially when they get a resounding YABU, and still argue it. You have to at least accept the remote possibility YABU!!

ShirleyKnot · 15/02/2011 12:34

AIBU to not talk to the man who murdered my entire family with an icepick?

Yes. Yes you are.

JamieLeeCurtis · 15/02/2011 12:35

I think AIBU is the new Chat. And therefore the "chat" is much less friendly and more combative for it. I think some people don't know there are other topics than AIBU

Sometimes they just want to rant and haven't thought it through before posting. So when they get negative answers back, they are in an emotional state so get upset.

Sometimes they are twats

GloriaSmut · 15/02/2011 12:36

"AIBU to advertise my business on here because I'm simply meeting the most enormous demand for swimming lessons in Billericay and am thus providing ann essential public service to the community?"

Yes. So fuck off. And when you get there, fuck off a little further.

Psammead · 15/02/2011 12:37

With a goat.

OP posts:
kreecherlivesupstairs · 15/02/2011 12:38

Psammead YABU. you could be crotcheting an advertising hoarding to go up on Billericay high street. For example Wink

JamieLeeCurtis · 15/02/2011 12:39

I think it's a shame that some of the other sections don't get enough traffic, because posting on Behaviour/development or Parenting (for instance) might get you more of the type of support or advice you are looking for than AIBU

Psammead · 15/02/2011 12:42

True. Tbh it took me ages to realise there were more sections than Baby Names (which is how I stumbled upon Mumsnet in the first place) and AIBU.

Site navigation isn't all that intuitive or conducive to random wonderings as some other forums.

kreecher I couldn't possibly go all the way to Spain!
