I swear I am going to get violent and pummel 'D'H into submission. Also where can we go on holiday?

'D' H is being an arse.

I would imagine a nice holiday first week of august, 4 people, somewhere warm, not too far away, nice, interesting, with beach would cost in the region of £2k.

AIBU?

If I could find somewhere for less that would be fabulous but bloody skinflint arsehole 'D'H thinks 2k is too expensive.

It is expensive but we never go anywhere and I have vowed this year we bloody will.

It would cost less if we went without him.

i'm going to a campsite on lake garda at the end of june. have a look at the keycamp site - tents, caravans and apartments across europe and USA. but again it's the flights that worked out more expensive. it's £800 all in for me & DS.

Our holiday this year, first week of August to Turkey for a fortnight is costing us just shy of 1k

We are staying above a bar owned by some friends we met last year Grin.

Booking everything seperate is cheaper than package holidays. Turkey is very cheap too.

We have never spent more than £1200 and always go for a fortnight.

We are staying in a villa for a week in Portugal, summer holidays and it is glorious and costing us £2000 for flights, villa and £100 a day spending money.

We only have one holiday a year, so that is our full holiday budget for 2011 pretty much!!!

I will also need to rent a car, cost me £130 last year for a week, so I will tip over the £2000 but not by a massive amount.

Mind you, I booked the flights in November to get them as cheap as possible. My flights cost £500 for four, now nearly £1100 just for the flights....

We went to Mallorca last year for a week in the Summer holidays.

We flew midweek (Tuesday to Tuesday) which I think helped with the price.

But for 2 adults and 2 children, flying from Glasgow, all inclusive in a 1 bedroom apartment we paid £1300.

So the deals are there to be had if you are willing to shop around and dont need 5* hotels.

Ours was 3* btw!

we are driving to the south of france with 1 6 year old and 2 year old twins!

We looked at flights, which were £800 for the 5 of us, and then looked at hiring a 7 seater car which was going to cost another £500! So that's when we decided on driving.

Luckily our kdis are very used to driving and as we enjoy it too we should just about get there in 1 piece! should being the important word there! Grin

caravan for a week, £1k - £1200.

You can get a week's holiday DB&B in Morocco for £400 each. Eating out in inexpensive, spends will depend on you (you will have to learn to say NO to market traders).
Google cheap holidays, fill in your dates and see what comes up.
BTW make sure your room has air con.

Easyjet to Split in Croatia. £66 per person on Sunday 31 July, £63.99 per person coming back on 7 August.

2 Bedroom apartment in Split from 40 Euro per day. here

Split is the main port where all the island hopping boats leave from. A day trip to Hvar will provide the opportunity for island hopping in a cheap rented boat with an outboard motor, and has the advantage of having several excessivly trendy bars where the teenagers can hang out with the beautiful crowd. You can also do day trips to Trogir, there's some fantastic waterfalls and river swimmig about two hours north by coach and the food is cheap, if a tad "kill it and grill it".

it's croatia i have my eye on but was aiming more dubrovnik than split. i'll have a looksy atthat though. thanks.

we stayed at this brilliant campground just ouside of Lisbon last year - about ?60 a night for a 2 bed cabin (sleeps 5), 5 min walk from miles & miles of fab beach (big waves)! Not so great for wee kids but teenagers would love it.

Flights cheap if you buy early. Day trips to Lisbon for some culture if you fancy it - you are really close to the city but it really doesn't feel like it. Local shops/restaurants etc fine - mainly Portuguese holiday here. Can rent a car for about £160 PW.
