I swear I am going to get violent and pummel 'D'H into submission. Also where can we go on holiday?

'D' H is being an arse.

I would imagine a nice holiday first week of august, 4 people, somewhere warm, not too far away, nice, interesting, with beach would cost in the region of £2k.

AIBU?

If I could find somewhere for less that would be fabulous but bloody skinflint arsehole 'D'H thinks 2k is too expensive.

It is expensive but we never go anywhere and I have vowed this year we bloody will.

It would cost less if we went without him.

Harsh words scottishmummy.

scottishmummy · 13/02/2011 20:32

as opposed to

  • bloody skinflint arsehole dh
  • I am going to get violent and pummel 'D'H into submission

frankly doesnt sound like any negotiation.sounds like do it op way or highway

Bogeyface · 13/02/2011 20:32

I think you will struggle to find a villa with all your requirements, including flights, transfers etc for 2k in the first week in August. Its just so expensive at that time of year.

You could probably get a nice Gite in northern France for that though.

gordyslovesheep · 13/02/2011 20:37

Wales

scottishmummy · 13/02/2011 20:37

gower peninsula is stunning

A1980 · 13/02/2011 20:40

How about Egypt.

Even though the Sinai and Red Sea are not affected by the protests I imagine people will avoid going there. Prices may well drop like a stone once people stop going.

AtYourCervix · 13/02/2011 20:42

i love gower but i need sun. last time we camped in gower it rained so much my tent broke and i had to buy a new one.

if dh showed any enthusiasm or willingness to help at all i wouldn't be so cross.

if you are adventurous James villas have marrakesh for c£1600 via gatwick and daytime sunday flights on 31st july?

Shodan · 13/02/2011 21:02

Have a look at onthebeach.co.uk. Supposedly v good and much cheapness, according to my sister.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 13/02/2011 21:03

Weather not guaranteed but what about Brittany? £750 for farmhouse with pool 15km from sea. Choice then of ferries or flights depending where you live and how much you are prepared to spend.

Mists · 13/02/2011 21:04

I think your original idea of going without him seems to be the best bet.

MarioandLuigi · 13/02/2011 21:26

yy to onthebeach - but be careful, rather than a package company they are more a flights+hotel+car hire company via other providers, and offer little protection if one of those companies folds.

We ahve the same arguement OP, so I feel your pain. The only holiday DH hs ever booked and paid for cost just under £1000 and it was hell on earth for a week.

£2K isnt that much for 2 adults two children, but then my yearly holiday is my one extravagance and I do go a bit overboard Blush.

Look at Villa Plus - we have booked with them before and they are very good, or use Holiday lettings to find a private one and flights via Easyjet/Ryanair. Alragve is good and there are plenty of flights to Faro.

MarioandLuigi · 13/02/2011 21:27

Algarve

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 13/02/2011 21:37

Dd is going to malta with my auntie and uncle in may, it's cost £650 for a week for all of them, all inclusive.

Malta is bloody gorgeous as well, we went when we were kids they're staying here btw, pools look fab !

bellavita · 13/02/2011 21:43

I think £2k is under budgeting tbh for especially as two of them are older children.

Our flights alone have come in at just short of £4k for this years holiday.

bellavita · 13/02/2011 21:45

Apocalypse - Malta is lovely, we went last year.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 13/02/2011 21:47

I want to go back but Ethan doesn't cope well in the heat, it's really lovely and is somewhere most people wouldn't think of going to, so not over run with people or tackiness

scottishmummy · 13/02/2011 21:48

we go to gozo serene and stunning

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 13/02/2011 21:52

That's where we stayed, would love to go back but it won't happen with ds the way he is at the mo Envy

mosschops30 · 13/02/2011 22:05

I dont think 2k is unreasonable, especially for a week.

We have paid 2.5k for 5 of us for 2 weeks in august for a 4* in majorca.
Easy, we priced it all up separately with Thomson, then they put it together as a package which saved us 1k on the brochure price Smile
Am a demon holiday shopper.

DONT go to the feckin algarve, id sooner go to Moss Side for a week!

reelingintheyears · 13/02/2011 22:07

Gower peninsula is fab......

scottishmummy · 13/02/2011 22:09
