AIBU to get totally freaked out by my valentine

I am very very single and don't even have a sniff on the horizon, but a Valentines card arrived today. Now I should be really Grin but I'm actually just freaked out...

It's a moonpig card with two sticks of rock on it. On one stick of rock it says "I Love You" and on the other is my name - spelt wrong. No indication who sent it whatsoever and it just has two sinister x's inside.

Aside from the tastelessly impersonal card, I'm freaked out that someone has gone to the trouble of getting my address in order to send random tat through the post to me... I live in a really remote little hamlet - what will I get next? Strippogram, flowers or a horses head in my bed?

I'm also horrified that they couldn't at least spell my name right!

need some Wine

Oh god, if it was a single Malteasers bunny then I would be hoping for a proposal. Those things are sssssssssooo tasty!

HalfTermHero · 12/02/2011 21:57

Butterscotch and milk for me too. I also hanker after the carmel centre milk choc bar G&B used to do. No one sells it anymore and it was my favourite Sad

The cherry one is bloody amazing.
hahaha Halftermhero! I haven't had one yet....keep hearing how good they are. Proposal good, it seems! Grin

Call me common, but I might be persuaded by some liqueur chocs..I like those!

HalfTermHero · 12/02/2011 21:59

In the past whenver I have had a card marked only with 'XX', it was from someone who was married so not wanting to put their name to it, iykwim....

geraldinetheluckygoat · 12/02/2011 22:00

I like the coffee one that sainsburys do, with little bits of coffee in...thats nice too.

geraldinetheluckygoat · 12/02/2011 22:01

Wow, I don't think I have ever had a card marked with just "xx" I wish I had though, sounds exciting!

HalfTermHero · 12/02/2011 22:03

I will check out that Sainsbury Coffee one. Sounds lovely!

curlymama · 12/02/2011 22:03

I hear you Asteria, i got an anonymous valentine the year that I was engaged. I still have no idea who it was, after eliminating just about every male I know. It was odd! It drove me nuts for a few days, because who would go to the bother when they couldn't even be traced!? It's wierd!

But still nice to know that once in your life, someone has bothered to send you a truly anonymous valentine. Even if he is a fruitloop.

You can comfortably ignore that, unless you find out for certain that he is indeed, a fruitloop.

Enjoy, and if you find out who it is and you like him, tell him nothing less than 24 red roses will entice you. Grin

Asteria · 12/02/2011 22:06

Oooh I shall have to try the Malteser Bunny - I will invite you all to the wedding!

Curly - I'm not sure how he would get an enormous bunch of roses through the letterbox - unless he posted them one at a time...

Could it be off a friend OP who thinks that you might not get one and is trying to be nice without realising they have scared the shit out of you?

DreamTeamGirl · 12/02/2011 22:28

A friend sent one to the girl who broke her heart 9 years ago cos Moonpig made it possible for her to do so totally anonymously.
She hadnt done so before cos she was too busy pretending she was totally over her :)

I have cancelled out all the obvious culprits, we are now down to freaky stalkers - like the one that sent me YouTube clips of Organ Music and The Remains of the Day for a few months before I eventually blocked him on Facebook. Saw him at a ball last weekend and he was staring at me the whole night... He looks like Churchill in his more gouty years and is a bit of an old woman (lives in a timewarp and has lace doilies over the backs of his armchairs) - I'm hardly Jessica Alba but I really don't need to settle that badly!

LOL @ "you tube clips of Organ Music and The Remains of the Day" What's not to love there, Asteria, where's your romantic spirit??
Grin
Oh god, just read the rest of the paragraph. Whole thing is hillarious.....Grin

geraldinetheluckygoat · 13/02/2011 18:52

I mean, ORGAN MUSIC??!?!?!

Now that IS sinister...

TrillianAstra · 13/02/2011 18:58

Xs are not sinister.

I agree about the tonic - non-slimline tonic is a waste of calories that could be used on having more gin.

cocoachannel · 13/02/2011 19:05

Were the address and sinister kisses handwritten?

I ask because a friend of mine got a Valentine's Day personalised card with just kisses in it and after a few days of detective work discovered it was a marketing initiative by the card company!

bupcakesandcunting · 13/02/2011 19:09

YAB a bit U.

I used to spend every Valentine's Day as a teen bemoaning the fact I didn't ever get a card except the ones my mum had cajoled my aunties into writing for me. Then one year I did get one and I was all suspcious and weirded out.

Turned out just to be the local poindexter so no harm done except him feeling a bit of a tit, like.

varyingdegreesofdeafness · 13/02/2011 19:13

I would LOVE a proper anonymous card! Dh would be a bit miffed though...

Lonnie · 13/02/2011 19:55

I say YABU someone bothered to send you a card no matter whom it is from or if it is to your taste someone took the time out. imo thats a nice thing.
