I just keep seeing surreal words popping up all over the place...

Although I'll probably regret starting this thread, as I'll get jumped on for any typos I make now!

you are not being unbreezable

stoppinchingthedummy · 12/02/2011 18:10

yabu :) i laugh at some of the words that come up when my dp sends me texts without checking ...ha ...last week was "have u asked friors why the vipers are outside the shop" meant to say "have u asked fred why the police are outside the shop" ..made me chuckle anyway :)

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 12/02/2011 18:10

My fave was yesterday...
poppies = police
Grin

InspirationalBreadbin · 12/02/2011 18:12

It's not just on here. A text from my DH yesterday read 'Jarvik pluton tipper cup and what was the other thing?'
Any guesses?

MardyBra · 12/02/2011 18:13

No idea inspirational but your nn is quite surreal too!

This sort of thing didn't happen before we all became iwhores

Acanthus · 12/02/2011 18:16

It's not predictive text though, it's bloody autocorrect and it comes up with some real random shit. But yes, I do read it over.

onimolap · 12/02/2011 18:17

Allsquare: that was me! Glad you enjoyed the moment.

But my worst one was "if you lube Montezuma"

It seems to be worst when you make a typo (very easily done on a touch screen), and it then turns it into the next nearest word. I do look more carefully at what I've typed before pressing 'post', but I'm still very fallible.

Why thank you MardyBra. Another classic from my OH was 'Prized sandwich is toast'.

Err, is it? Thanks for that!

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 12/02/2011 18:31

This happens to me quite a lot with autocorrect... You can train them but the most annoying ones are typos that don't correct - I often type for as fir, or of as if. Or I hit fkr and it corrects to the wrong thing.

LadyThumb · 12/02/2011 18:32

Oh dear! When I started the same topic 3 weeks ago I got a right flaming!! I am fed-up seeing posts with one word, or "sorry, grrr predictive text" because it disrupts the flow of the thread!

MardyBra · 12/02/2011 18:33

Sorry LadyThumb - missed your thread.

YANBU. I'm with LadyThumb, so fed up of every other post being a correction.

cumfy · 13/02/2011 00:02

You forgot to put tea in the cup and water was the other thing!

GreenEyesandHam · 13/02/2011 00:05

YABU I think they're hilarious :o

muggglewump · 13/02/2011 00:06

Ha, if it was correct, then they couldn't say 'look at me on my iphone/ipad'

Yep though, it is annoying.
I don't care what you are posting on, but please try to make it correct.

RunawayRasin · 13/02/2011 00:09

This website is fantastic and very funny

Earthymama · 13/02/2011 00:27

RR, I have had the giggles really badly on reading those autocorrects!!

DP watching Braveheart, the sad bits and I'm falling around laughing!

Tee2072 · 13/02/2011 07:41

I have an iPhone and I find them annoying. It takes 2 seconds to read over a post and correct what the stupid phone does.

Honestly, whomever wrote the software for iPhone's auto-correct must have been mentally unbalanced.

And if I do miss one, I rarely post to correct it. Unless it really changes the meaning of the post, I just shrug and move on with my life.

Morloth · 13/02/2011 08:21

YABU, I love them, cracks me up.
