Seems to say to boys "you can beat up your girlfriend (she probably deserved it anyway) and everyone will make excuses, feel sorry for you and it won't affect you at all and you can carry on being a giant pop star so why would it matter if you do it, you plumber/accountant/whatever" Angry

OP posts:

i too agree about cheryl.

StealthPolarBear · 12/02/2011 11:23

Yes, I can't see that Jordan has done that would class as worse. And I don't agree with drug use but can't get as worked up about that.

OhForBoonessSake · 12/02/2011 11:23

i dont like jordan BTW i just want to know what she has done that is 'much worse' than what chris brown did.

silverfrog · 12/02/2011 11:24

well, as I said, I'm not sure what KK and Jordan have to do with this thread. for all we know, the OP has similar views on them anyway (not that thye have been accused or convicted of serious assualt as far as I am aware - but as I said beofre, this is hardly my area of interest)

I could name a dozen other celebs that I don't htink should be held up as role models, or revered. that doesn't mean anythign in realtion to a discussion on Chris Brown.

and I stand by what I said - I find it very worrying that so many people can say "oh well, what's done is done. the guy must be ok, he's served his time", and think it is ok that countless teens worldwide are being led ot think something ver unacceptable os ok, because their idol did it.

silverfrog · 12/02/2011 11:25

completely agree about Cheryl Cole too.

SardineQueen · 12/02/2011 11:26

What have Kerry Katona and Jordan done that is worse than beating someone black and blue?

I don't read the sleb mags but I'd have thought I'd have been aware of something like that!

JoBettany · 12/02/2011 11:28

DV is unacceptable. This person, Chris Brown, beat his girlfriend up very badly. I chose not to support him.

I completely agree about Cheryl Cole.

chipmonkey · 12/02/2011 11:32

Agree with the OP. I find it amazing that men like Chris Brown and Mike Tyson can commit violent acts against women and are still lauded everywhere they go. It is also very sad in Chris Brown's case that teenage girls are still happy to buy his music and that Rihanna probably deserved to be beaten. It is very worrying. If they get beaten by a boyfriend will they also feel that somehow they deserved it?
Don't they discuss these things in school?

But 2 (or 3, or countless!) wrongs don't make a right, altinkum. It is not relevant that there are other cells who should also not be role models.

silverfrog · 12/02/2011 11:43

Grr. Autocorrect - celebs

huddspur · 12/02/2011 11:45

What he did was terrible but he's served his punishment, he should be free to move on and carry on with his life.

StealthPolarBear · 12/02/2011 11:47

yes, agree. And we are free to think he is vile and buy or not buy accordingly

Glamour · 12/02/2011 11:47

i personally wouldnt download any of his songs although his new one Yeah 3x is kinda stuck in my head

I'm not arguing that he should be further punished. Or that he shouldn't make music.

I find it very sad, and more than a little horrifying, that so many people can just sweep what he did under the carpet. That so many teens are dismissing it ad "well, she deserved it".

For me, both now and as a teen, if I had been a fan, this knowledge would change that. I would not be able to continue lining the.pockets of someone capable of this. I wouldn't be able to gloss over it, and idolise him. and it would worry me hugely if a child of mine held him up as a role model.

ThePosieParker · 12/02/2011 11:50

I think he should be allowed to make/release music but I am disappointed that anyone wants to work with him or buy his music.

OhForBoonessSake · 12/02/2011 11:54

jordan is being judged as worse than chris brown for admitting she was raped? Shock (ignoring the multiple fathers comment)

I boycott MJ stuff because I find the man unpalatable due to the accusations, and likely at that, against him...

I boycott loads of other musicians just for being shit.

I don;t understand how KK and Jordan can in any way be judged to have behaved in a worse way than someone who has beaten their partners black and blue.

I particularly concur with the Shock that Booness felt on the point about Jordan having been raped.

MarioandLuigi · 12/02/2011 12:37

altinkum - Rape Allegations :o are you joking!

SardineQueen · 12/02/2011 12:38

partners

dont know what happened there

MarioandLuigi · 12/02/2011 12:38

sorry, that should have been Shock
