To sometimes think AIBU

has turned in to a fight club despite that not being its purpose?

It just seems everything and anything kicks off, grown up and sensible debate that was once so commonplace here has been replaced with a few choice words, and instead of grown up interaction it seems like the terms "troll" "bigot" "daily mail reader" "jog on" are thrown in when people can not make grown up or sensible comments

"I could be a slim, beautiful woman with a million pound house and two husbands."

Nah! I'd prefer to be a slim, beautiful woman with 2 million pound houses and no husbands.

NormanTheForeman · 11/02/2011 16:50

I'd prefer to be a short, plastic man with a portakabin.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 11/02/2011 16:54

oh no. i need at least two men at my beck and call. preferably three.

It's my fake persona, I can do what I like.

See. In my fantasy, I even have HAIR! Grin

mommmmyof2 · 11/02/2011 16:56

No one husband is enough, why on earth do we need AIBU when the OH tells us all the time!

AIBU is my lazy day Internet read, when I'm feeling nice, supportive or more productive I'll often contribute to other parts of MN.

I am amazed at the amount of flack AIBU gets, I try and take everything on AIBU with a pinch of salt, but it isn't an overly supportive board, and it need not be, the other parts of MN make up for that and provide genuine help (well it has done for me) by the people who are or have been in similar positions.

Personally I'm more aggrieved that the support boards for children's disabilities has had a lot more trolling of late, I think that would do more damage than AIBU.

Never heard of sock puppetry before though, some people are crazy to do that (although in my persona I'd be tall and blonde with nicer children Grin ).

Trillian · 11/02/2011 18:32

AIBU has the most traffic so I think that is where most people post,

What is with the sock puppet? Lost me there.

I think there was a link on the first page, something about someone going under a different name to back themselves up on a thread!

There seems to be a lot of sockpuppetry on vaccine threads

mommmmyof2 · 11/02/2011 19:52

I could not be bothered to do the whole sock puppetry thing, if you feel your opinion is right then why need back up! everyone thinks different, that is life.

jugglingjo · 11/02/2011 20:01

One thing that gets me on AIBU is how many people post either,

YABU OR

YANBU

And nothing else Hmm

Great debate !

My DD is 11 (just started secondary)

and my DS is 9, and goes to the school I now work at.

How about yours ?

I just spotted you on knackered on a Friday thread too Grin

MissRead · 11/02/2011 20:31

Am I missing the point or is sock-puppetry and name changing all a bit pointless? After all we are all on an internet forum, we can choose how much info about ourselves we give away in our profiles/posts but really we're fairly anonymous. So what's the point of being BitchyMum instead of BolshyMum - nobody knows who you really are anyway. Or am I just being a bit thick? Am on the Friday night wine so it's a definite possibility...

AintMissBeehiving · 11/02/2011 20:44

I can't change names fast enough to have a sock puppet Sad. My life would be so much easier if I could have a little sock puppet following me around agreeing with me all the time.

Hi, I have been involved in some "ecumenical matters" where I live.

I'm sure it would have livened up some of the more boring meetings and gatherings if I'd played the game of seeing how many times I could drop that phrase into the proceedings ?

Do you think it would be possible without being sussed ?Wink
