I know ideally AIBY is probably the wrong place to put this, but we figured our project could be kind of controversial so we thought this would be the closest match.
As part of one of our modules, we have decided to develop a virtual prototype of a device that links up with android phones, and we wanted mumsnetters from all different walks of life to share their thoughts, because ultimately, if such a device was developed, we suspect it would be highly likely you would be a substantial chunk of our target audience.
INFO:
Consists of an Information device that could be inserted into the human body using nanotechnology
Syncs with Android app to allow people more control over health
-Could upload info to encrypted NHS database that ALREADY exists as soon as the tiniest abnormalities pre defined by medical practitioner for that person. This could allow paramedics/EMTS/A&E staff to access stats they would otherwise have to take time to do examinations to do or ask distressed relatives over the phone.
-Could allows you to access emergency services before symptoms are visible or get too serious by using the device in conjunction with the App to warn the user that they could be at risk and phone Emergency Services for them and contact ICE contacts
The device and app could monitor the following stats:
Heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, oxygen concentration in blood, insulin levels, IgE levels, histamine, adverse mitrochrondrial activity, contractions, CNS activity/brain activity etc
? Could also be developed to lesson medical intervention and encourage body to produce appropriate chemicals to challenge any health problems
? Could let those who may not be able to access everyday life otherwise access everyday life (e.g. think of a young child with mild ASD prone to running off when anxious with epilepsy be able to access a overnight school trip for example)
? Could be good for ?worried well? as would lesson unnecessary doctors visits as device would let know stats are within normal levels
? Could have optional feature of gps- could be ethically controversial
? Could be used in pets who otherwise wouldn?t be able to communicate discomfort/find them after straying etc
? Could sync with mobile phone to notify ICE contacts with pre written message that needs assistance/has contacted ES :D
