Ok i was involved in an accident at the weekend and suffered whiplash as did my daughter. This is all going through my insurance company fine and dandy as is the PI claim (i cba to faff with external solicitors etc) anyway i've told the solicitors all the details etc etc and expected to hear nothing more until liability had been established.

Today I have had 2 phone calls from PI law firms stating that "you could be entitled to 100% of your compensation if you use us as an independent firm"

Thanks but erm, where did you get my details from?!

So am i being unreasonable to be annoyed with my insurance firm for this?

did you forget to tick/un-tick a box??

Possibly! All details about insurance claims go into a central computer, so all the firms have access to them. It may be that these ambulance chasers PI firms have access to it from there.

Everything so far to do with my accident has been dealt with over the phone. Im at a loss Confused but central computer system makes sense!

They certainly share lots of information between insurance companies, as otherwise they can have people trying to claim under more than one policy for the same thing. And they'd hate to pay out more than they can possibly help!

I had that. I'm pretty sure it's third party insurers fault (just a gut feeling). As I heard nothing till they got grief off my insurers about paying up for car seat. All of a sudden nearly 3 months after accident I get texts from random PI people saying how much I can get.

Not bothering with PI claim as no lasting injury or that left me out of pocket.

YANBU.

I sometimes get phone calls saying I can claim for my injury in an accident I had in the last three years. The only accident I have is where I ripped my bumper off on a low wall. It was my fault and I wasn't hurt.

I always sound very confused and ask them when the accident was and what happened to me. They just get flustered and can't answerGrin

I've had similar calls about compensation for my accident. Seeing as it was me driving into our own garden fence, there wasn't really any need for the compensation or anyone to get it from Grin
