Was it DH or myself who made me look like a silly cow?

At lunch today with friends.

I was filling in a form for a BOGOF meal. Waiter was waiting for me to complete it.

I asked DH for email address, then asked again as waiter was waiting. eg

"Name"..."Name"...

He replies, "I was talking", gives me email address, then does mimicky voice at me nagging him.

I felt like a complete dickhead in front of our friends.

AIBU? Was it me who was a twat?

DH was twat.

But if it was momentary, one off twatishness I advise moving on.

If this is example of repeat twatishness I advise ye olde Big Chat.

Tortington · 06/02/2011 22:55

was he talking?

it is rude to interupt

Tortington · 06/02/2011 22:55

and you could have done it beforehand i spose

messedup1 · 06/02/2011 22:56

He was talking - though not mid-sentence.

And I wasn't really aware he was talking because I was trying to deal with the voucher/waiter.

I wasn't trying to interrupt him.

Both of you tbh

CrispyCakeHead · 06/02/2011 22:58

I think your DH was a bit twattish, but if you were a bit sharp with him I can understand why he might have sounded a bit off.

No need to make you feel small though.

Flisspaps · 06/02/2011 22:58

He sounds like a bit of a twat.

No need for him to be rude, especially as he could see the waiter was, well, waiting.

messedup1 · 06/02/2011 23:01

I don't know what is worse. Knowing that I have been a twat, or being called on it in front of friends.

I feel like a twat.

mutznutz · 06/02/2011 23:03

Did you really say to him "Name" "Name"?

Foreverondiet · 06/02/2011 23:03

why did you need to ask him for his email address? surely you know it?

MrsAlanKey · 06/02/2011 23:04

He was. He was just having a converation in a pub, not delivering an address to the United Nations. You should be able to ask for an email address in those circs without having the piss taken out of you. If he was really bothered he should have talked to you about it afterwards.

UniS · 06/02/2011 23:04

did you really give them a REAL email addy?? He'll get spam from them for years now, good pay back for making you feel silly.

thenightsky · 06/02/2011 23:07

Do you not have your own email address OP?

Kewcumber · 06/02/2011 23:08

don;t you know his email address? Or couldn't you have used yours?

messedup1 · 06/02/2011 23:12

Hah. No I used his name!!

Um, no I don't know his email as he has a couple - work home etc.

And also I needed two on there so had already put mine on.

And yes, prob bit stupid as will get junk mail, but was a bit flustered.

Angry at "I was talking" !!! I would have said "Well I'm filling in a form so we can save some cash you twat."

Not really...but would havethought it.

He was a twat

messedup1 · 06/02/2011 23:15

Wimple. Ah if only I had the balls to say that.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing for the things I should have said!

My DP and I do, on many occasions end up in this kind of situation and it's just a part of his personality to take the mickey out of me or whoever actually. I don't take it to heart and always reply with one of the following:

A. Flip him the finger and blow him a sarcastic kiss;
B. Reply with 'fuck you' and blow him a sarcastic kiss; or
C. Tell him to 'sit on it' while flipping him the finger and blow him a sarcastic kiss.

The end result is always that he laughs, I laugh and he always ends it with 'I love you, you nutter'.

Tension defused and back to normal.

Happy times Smile

messedup1 · 06/02/2011 23:31

Libra... I wish we could do that!!

Tense times are seemingly over now, but its all lurking under the carpet, hence me being extra worried about a little incident today.

Both of you- you should have just made one up ?!

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 06/02/2011 23:42

You should have just flicked his forehead really hard.

CockularDepravity · 06/02/2011 23:51

You both sound dreadful so I imagine it all balances itself out.

LibraPoppyGirl · 07/02/2011 00:50

messedup1 I know it's hard. I wasn't always this laid back about things. I'm 40 now, have one DS who is 13yo (not DP's) and am 23 weeks pg (is DP's Wink) but have been through a shitload throughout my life and I just tell myself (in my head of course lol) 'relax, no one has died, it's all just a moment' smile sweetly and then tell him to 'fuck off'.

You can try the sarcastic route and see how it pans out. His personality might respond to that kind of response. Men rarely get as uptight about things as we women do, so sometimes it's good to just throw a few expletives at them, blow them a kiss and move on Wink

huddspur · 07/02/2011 00:51

YABU you're making a mountain out of a molehill.

Emmanana · 07/02/2011 01:07

I normally put a fake email on those things anyway. Who ever has the addresses [email protected] or [email protected] must get a lot of messages....
