To think that if you are going to join a thread simply to flame the OP then at least read the posts made by them!

just seen a thread where the Op has repeated many tiimes that she was posting something said about her by someone else.

yet people are continuing to post flaming her because they cannot be bothered to actually read anything beyond the OP.

it is lazy.

And you make yourself look like a twat

In fairness tho there does seem to be a trend for stupid, cryptic posts at the mo [confuse]

TickettyBoo · 04/02/2011 22:21

Not done it - but can see how easy it would be if there are pages and pages of posts.

I daren't even ask how you get the OP's posts in green incase I get shot at dawn lol :D

TrillianAstra · 04/02/2011 22:34

What thread are you talking about? I thought this was a general point but now would like to know what you are all on about.

To get green, go to customise (near the top), select mumsnet new, and yes for 'highlight posts by thread author'

it is a general point Trills. But there was a particular thread that prompted it e/1142180-To-think-people-with-mental-health-issue s-should-be-locked-up Here

There have been many many threads like it.

I do take the point that in this thread teh outrage is kind of comforting and is almost her own fault by doing a stealth thread...but it just goes to prove how few MNers can be bothered to actually look at a thread.

Even if they just skimmed down the last few posts they would see that the thread had moved on. But they cannot be bothered to read beynd the OP.

TrillianAstra · 04/02/2011 22:39

Well if the OP was saying 'I completely disgree with the thing I said in the first post' then shouldn't she be pleased that people are reacting strongly against it?

i can understand why it has happened. i have learned that threads are sometimes longer than is said on the thread, i once posted page 1 of 1 to then realise it was a very long standing post that was about page 1 of 5 after i posted. there is some times a delay

and post in question was very obviously going to end up that way, op should have changed it once pointed out.

i can understand why it would get a very quick knee jerk reaction even if lots of pages long.

i tend to read page 1 then skip to last to see if its a thread worthy of my input befor i read it all. sometimes if its too long i admit to not reading all but post anyway.

LadyPumpington · 04/02/2011 22:44

I wouldn't mind if people came and read the whole of this thread we need the support please TIA www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/1142368-So-wheres-the-cup-of-tea-emoticon-then

tomhardyismydh · 04/02/2011 22:48

and wasnt the point of the thread to hilight the reaction this statement should incure. therefore that is what op was expecting

blackletterday · 04/02/2011 22:49

I agree, don't know why people have pages turned on either. Is easy to scroll to the top, plus if a thread goes poof halfway through, you still get to read the rest Grin.

2shoes · 04/02/2011 22:51

penelopestitsdropped be fare a lot of people post whilst they are doing other things like parenting, so they haven't always got time to read whole thread. this is bad when the op has there mind changed mid thread, but on this occasion the op was playing a "game" so tbh she got the response her op deserved.

LadyPumpington · 04/02/2011 22:58

Oh i have no idea why anyone would use pages.
It is so much like hard work.

it is so easy to just scroll through a thread and quickly skim for the OP's tinted posts.

As i say, in the instance that prompted this thread i guess the outrage is a good thing as it proves OP WNBU

but in other threads it can be so bloody tiresome watching the poor OP getting flamed over something that was resolved ages before.

If you cant read teh entire thread at least do a quick scroll through the last few posts at least. see where the discussion has gotten to

2shoes · 04/02/2011 23:02

i must be odd
I type post, dd's glasses fall off, i click post, and go to her.

YABU, I only read the op and take it on face value and comment on it, sometimes you have a thread with numerous pages, do not have the time to read through them all, I am just commenting on the op. So yes YABU

tomhardyismydh · 04/02/2011 23:08

i think we need a [fag] imoticon Grin

I cant belive we got Wine before [fruitshoot] that just demonstrates Mn snobbery Grin
