to wonder what people are planning for valentines (and to rob ideas)

Im thinking going to La Tasca (16.00 3 course and glass of wine. bargain) then do something fun like bowling or crazy golf.

A romantic night in, steak dinner and a DVD.

I think I'd rather gouge my eyes out than go to a packed restaurant on Valentine's night...the staff are normally rushed off their feet.

pinkhebe · 04/02/2011 13:17

parents evening Hmm

swanandduck · 04/02/2011 13:17

I will be icing a cake pink to keep the kids happy.
We never go out on Valentine's night. Most of the restaurants cash in by shoving tables on top of each other to fit in as many people as possible. I don't want to eat my dinner with some self concious twenty year olds beside me 'being romantic.'

Dylthan · 04/02/2011 13:17

Sod all. I think the romance has well and truly gone. I may get him a card if I can be arsed.

pozzled · 04/02/2011 13:18

Whatever we would usually do, neither of us feel the need to go out for dinner or anything special.

All a bit 'bah humbug' in this household!

pinkhebe · 04/02/2011 13:18

But we find out whether our ds has been accepted into his first choice school (statistically unlikely) so we are going to pizza express afterwards to celebrate/comiserate Grin

MrSpoc · 04/02/2011 13:18

but its on a Monday. it cant be that packed surely?

Honeybee79 · 04/02/2011 13:19

Sweet FA.

PlasticLentilWeaver · 04/02/2011 13:20

Nope. Much closer to home. Just looking forward to a couple of nights of peace.

twolittlemonkeys · 04/02/2011 13:20

I agree with mutznutz. Really don't have the inclination to go out for Valentine's. Nor do I have the money to pay a babysitter. Evening in with a quiet homecooked meal once the kids are in bed, or if we're feeling flush, a takeaway Grin

coatgate · 04/02/2011 13:20

Sod all - tis an Americanised cash generator. Bah humbug. Oh, might have a humbug or maybe Wine

meantosay · 04/02/2011 13:21

I think Valentine's day is for kids really. All that angsting over whether you got a card or not, thank God those days are over.

DH never remembers Valentine's but arrived home on Tuesday with a nice bunch of tulips and a card with a smiley face because I had been in a bad mood and was tired.

Dylthan · 04/02/2011 13:21

swanandduck that's a great idea killing two birds with one stone. Something to keep the kids busy and earning yourself extra brownie points with dp. I may have to steal this idea Grin

TrillianAstra · 04/02/2011 13:21

"but its on a Monday. it cant be that packed surely?"

It will be heaving. You will be crammed in, and possibly rushed in order to get another couple onto your table later in the evening.

mutznutz · 04/02/2011 13:21

It doesn't matter what night it is. It'll be packed to the rafters with people who feel obliged to 'do something special' purely because it's Feb 14th.

swanandduck · 04/02/2011 13:22

You're very welcome Dylthan. Smile

Iklboo · 04/02/2011 13:23

DH & I will be in London because me & my friend are filming Pointless the next day with the divine Alexander Armstrong. The BBC are putting us up in a hotel on 13th becuase filming starts at 9am. We don't normally do Valentines - and my mate & her hubby will be there too, but we might go out for dinner somewhere and 'nod' to romaticism Grin

wigglesrock · 04/02/2011 13:25

Third baby due on 16th!! Maybe eating curry, jumping up and down, drawing the line at sex though Smile

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/02/2011 13:25

I have always wanted to book a large table with all my female friends in order to get raucous and point and laugh at all the silent 'romantic' couples on valentine day.

Frankly, I can't be arsed to go out and spend a fortune on lovey lovey pink themed food.

Valentines day my arse.

bamboobutton · 04/02/2011 13:28

nothing at all.

i've never liked valentines day as it feels so forced and fake.

i tell dh not to bother with chocs/flowers but he gets them anyway.

when did the Wine smiley turn up??

twlight · 04/02/2011 13:28

being Mrs Valentine we gotta go out - cos no one belives us when we book a table;Hmm

BeautifulBlondePineapple · 04/02/2011 13:31

I really dislike going out on Valentines night - all that forced romanticism is a bit nauseating.

I've bought DH a card and a present that is sort of for both of us - the Sopranos box set (we've not seen a single episode!), so we will be staying in and watching a bit of that before sloping off for an early night Grin

I'm going to steal the pink cakes idea though! The kids will love that.
