to not want to entertain when I'm depressed?

Tomorrow night, we (or DP) have invited a friend over for dinner.

It is the last thing in the world I want.

I feel utterly miserable - how the hell am I going to keep a smiley face?

OP, will you feel the same tomorrow? There's nothing wrong, if yr depressed, with going to bed to avoid dinner. You'd do it if you had a headache, if you're really not up to it then your DH and friend will understand.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Perhaps you could do as Betty suggested and excuse yourself, if DH doesn't like that idea, then just reschedule.

Thank you both.

I think tomorrow I'll feel worse with all the angst building up in me today.

I already skipped out of this person's birthday party a couple months ago (last minute). They would think me incredibly rude to bail out again. They're not aware of my depression.

The amount of times I've denied DP the chance to have friends over... I feel guilty so that's why I agreed to it.
