I have seen so many threads on here about someone notcing something someone else has said about someone else on facebook.

I don't use it (makes me too accessible to my weirdo family) but i do wonder whether it has done more hamr than good.

it seems no one talks or phones anymore.

I recently missed news of a freinds pregnancy because she anounced it over facebook. she just assumed everyone would have seen it so didn't bother telling anyone out in the real world.
Family get togethers are all arranged over facebook.

I would go so far as to say that i reckon a fair few marriages have collapsed due to it.

I think we should do a survey.

lol BLB - very true - now they just make it glaringly obvious to more people than before that they're cunts.

I've noticed that the cunts generally have crap privacy settings too - so they often are telling the whole world what cunts they are Grin

BuzzLightBeer · 02/02/2011 23:36

so in that way its a really useful tool to spot the cunts!
Grin

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 02/02/2011 23:43

It's our cuntdar !! [bgrin]

lololizzy · 02/02/2011 23:45

i've had fallouts because of statuses etc being misunderstood. Same with texts. However i do have facebook to thank for meeting my now fiance! Smile

Rindercella · 02/02/2011 23:48

That's the one Smile

There should be a like button on here for this alone, "I've noticed that the cunts generally have crap privacy settings too - so they often are telling the whole world what cunts they are". Oh and actually for FB being a cuntdar Grin

BuzzLightBeer · 02/02/2011 23:48

lol @ cuntdar! And we still have [bgrin]? Cool! I can't remember did we get St Patricks Day ones last year? I not we should start the campaign now. [bsmile]

Undutchable · 02/02/2011 23:50

Rofl at Cuntdar. That's made my day. I have a crappy cold. Come to think of it, I've not informed my facebook friends about my cold. Maybe they need to know about the sheer quantity of phlegm? Wink

gaelicsheep · 02/02/2011 23:51

Does anyone know if there is a way to prevent your posts on friends' walls being seen by all your other friends in their news feeds? This is the one thing I don't like about FB.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 02/02/2011 23:54

I know it's a pain, I daren't have aa itch about anyone [bsad]

And how do we stop all the fecking emails ??

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 02/02/2011 23:55

A bitch that is [bblush]

BuzzLightBeer · 02/02/2011 23:55

emails is easy, go into account and notifications and uncheck there. I don't get any emails.

CrispyHedgehog · 02/02/2011 23:58

I got the first inkling that my p was up to no good thanks to dingbat ow writing on his wall. Was nothing overt but it got me wondering and so I did some digging and found out everything.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 02/02/2011 23:58

Aha, think ave done it !

gaelicsheep · 03/02/2011 00:00

Done what?

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/02/2011 00:04

gaelic - I'm not sure if there is a direct way of you doing that for everyone (I know you can set it so that things people post on your wall can only be seen by you). I'm guessing they just assume you'll send a message on FB if it's just to one person rather than post on their wall??

Alternatively - you can use the padlock and choose "specific people" and the type in the name of the person, people, or "list" (if you've created friends lists) that you want to be able to see it.

reelingintheyears · 03/02/2011 00:06

Facebook is fab.

Just as long as you are able to understand the privacy settings.

And just as long as you can use it for your own ends...ie to talk to old and new friends.

Choose for yourself who you add and accept.

gaelicsheep · 03/02/2011 00:15

It arose when I posted on the wall of a b/f FB page. Afterwards I suddenly realised that all my FB friends might not want to see my in depth thoughts about the merits of mixed feeding. I haven't posted again!

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/02/2011 01:32

is it a group - or a page?

Morloth · 03/02/2011 01:38

I use Facebook, have groups of friends all around the world. Have never had an argument on it and only people I actually know and want to chat to on friends lists, much like real life.

Is a handy tool. Twats will be twats, where they are being Twats may vary.

LadyPumpington · 03/02/2011 01:45

Facebook has it's place in cyberspace, I just CBA to have an account it's too bothersome...

L0ST · 03/02/2011 11:16

Facebook isn't helping my marriage atm :(

marmynags · 03/02/2011 11:24

i only use it to play games

have never met or know personally one single "friend" on it - oh thats a lie I did meet one lady who lived near me a couple of years ago for a coffee

works for me

cestlavie · 03/02/2011 11:31

Facebook is what you make of it, it's just a tool. Blaming it for relationships screwing up is about as ridiculous as blaming a mobile phone company for allowing texting or a pub for serving alcohol.

FWIW I think it's a very useful tool for staying in touch with friends (especially overseas) who you'd normally lose with through laziness.

kepler10b · 03/02/2011 12:41

like any new form of communication facebook is great if you know how to use it.

i don't think facebook itself causes the argument. it's the thinks people decide to do with it that can cause arguments.

i find the whole anti-facebook thing a bit luddite tbh.

FindingStuffToChuckOut · 03/02/2011 15:04

depends on how you use it I guess. Never caused a problem for me. But then me & my 'friends' aren't bitching about each other on there - we're sharing photos, music, laughs, insights into our days & lives.
