WTF is it with Hello Kitty?

SO DD1 has started getting a bit obsessed with Hello Kitty. Fine by me, at least she isn't into Barbie or something like that, and the programmes are quite cute, but she wants a Hello Kitty cake for her birthday.
So I googled for images.

I doubt this is what she meant

and then I saw these. WHich I am pretty sure cannot be used in conjunction with this

Oh, but they may go with this and then of course you can leave the ceremony in this.

Although if you aren't getting married you might need one of these

There is FB group called Hello Kitty Hell - you would not believe some of the items that they dig up.

Grumpla · 02/02/2011 19:42

Blimey!

ScarlettWalking · 02/02/2011 19:42

Shock at last image

But if I did my bathroom up like that DD would absolutely do anything I asked her for a year. She is 4 and obsessed by HK.

usualsuspect · 02/02/2011 19:43

I love that cake!

Well, Hello Kitty is Japanese, and they do seem to go a little crazy over things they love!

I'm with them all the way though, I love Hello Kitty! I used to love it when I was little and my Mum could only get it in Harrods. Now it's everywhere!

MissQue · 02/02/2011 19:45

I love Hello Kitty but I draw the line at getting my rocks off with her!

ilythia · 02/02/2011 19:46

porto, I daren't look, seriously.

AM just going to do the cake and ignore all the restGrin

I find it weird that something that has such cute cartoons and obvious children's toys (we have a light up face singing doll for age 18months, and a dollshouse thing, and a lunchbox) and then have vibes and nails and cars.

Scarlett, I had to drive the long way home the other day to follow a Hello Kitty Smart Car. It ewas heading in the right direction for home and DD1 begged me to follow it. Was fugly.

I hate Hello Kitty. It has replaced Power Rangers as my idea of hell. Luckily DD is more into horses, but most of the other girls in her class are Hello Kitty addicts.

A tiny little bit of me wants to bring out that cake at DD's next birthday party Shock

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 02/02/2011 19:49

I have got a Hello Kitty vibrator. Can't remember why.

fifitot · 02/02/2011 19:50

DD is obsessed with it.

She got Barbie for xmas off a relative and honestly given the outfit Barbie was wearing, without knickers btw, might as well have been called 'pole dancer barbie'. Horrid.

ilythia · 02/02/2011 19:51

Oh fuck me

here in Italy you can buy all your kitchen stuff in hello kitty design, toasters, kettles, you name it. Unbelievable, it really is!

WimpleOfTheBallet · 02/02/2011 19:56

Better than Slagz or whatever those big-lipped bitchy toddler dolls are called.

muggglewump · 02/02/2011 19:56

I want the converse, and nails and cocaine Grin

ScarlettWalking · 02/02/2011 20:00

The Hello Kitty Wedding gown Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/02/2011 20:12

I want the exhaust pipe decal!!

curlymama · 02/02/2011 20:24

A tooth cap!

It's worse than I thought!

OTheHugeManatee · 02/02/2011 20:28

Call me weird, but I thought the tooth cap was quite funny.

LadyOfTheManor · 02/02/2011 20:30

I spent a year in China and HK was EVERYWHERE. It never really took off to the extent it did in China and espec. Japan, where girls never ever seem to grow up.

Hideously tacky. But beats Brat(s/z?) dolls.

LadyOfTheManor · 02/02/2011 20:31

Where would one buy a "Hello Kitty Meal"?

Honeybee79 · 02/02/2011 20:35

Love the cake. Disturbed by the dildo - wouldn't want to shove Hello Kitty up the old hoo ha but I guess it takes all sorts.

Clytaemnestra · 02/02/2011 20:38

There are love hotels in Tokyo where they have hello kitty themed rooms with human sized hello kitties which are...more anatomically correct than your average hello kitty.

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 02/02/2011 20:39

in defence of the Hello Kitty vibrator, it is surely more pleasant visually than the 'black or red plastic moulded willy with veins all over' it type vibrator.

FoundWanting · 02/02/2011 20:42

Hello Kitty's teddy looks quite upset though.

I think he's seen too much.
