Hi, I know it is bad form, but I'm very worried- we are being evicted.

Thread here

Thankyou, and sorry for posting a thread about a thread but I need advice quickly!

Sorry, not an expert but I think it is legal. You've been given two months notice to move out.
I would contact shelter for advice and I really hope someone more knowledgable comes along soon.

yeah 2 months to quit

get looking

You are not being evicted (yet). A section 21 (which is what they should have given you) is a notice that the landlord wants his property back. If you stay beyond the notice the landlord will have to take you to court to evict you, which could take around 3 months.

ICannotBloodyBelieveIt · 02/02/2011 11:27

It is shit but perfectly within the landlords rights.

tomhardyismydh · 02/02/2011 11:27

have posted on original thread as thats where the info is.

jeee · 02/02/2011 11:29

But if they have to evict you, they're not going to write you a good reference for you next landlord. As a general rule, it's better to part company on good terms. So get looking.

I don't know what your health problems are, obviously, but it's presumably worth finding out where you'd be on the waiting list for social housing?

This is what I have been fretting about for a while, and people kept saying it would never happen.
