Nudity and Modesty

Wasn't sure where to put this as it is no really AIBU question

A thread in teens got me curious how comfortable are you about nudity and at what age did you find modesty.

When I was growing up I rarely saw mum nude and never dad but it never bothered me being seen nude, by my parents or anyone else. Everyone just walked into my bedroom, when I was in the bath and sunbathed nude in the garden.

I am often nude around my house now and so are my DDs although when someone calls round I cover up unless I know them well.

I do not get people who go abroad, strip off on the beach but are modest when in the UK

I'm ok nude in front of the kids (10 & 11) getting dressed/out of the shower etc...and they have a laugh at "daddys willy". DW does the same. They are fine naked around us but that may all change in a couple of years time.....

solo · 29/01/2011 22:44

I never saw my parents naked and the only time I did see Mum naked was when her towel fell off! never seen her move that fast before or since!

I don't have any issues with nudity in front of my Dc's and Ds is 12 and still does it though 4yo Dd thinks his willy is hilarious if she catches sight of it, so he does cover up on occasion. They share a bedroom though and he can't bear pj's so it can be awkward. We don't make a big thing of it, but I'd like to think I have some modesty and wouldn't enertain visitors in the buff!

It appears that many people are afraid to be nude.In front of their kids or even in a doctor's office.
The only nude time most have are from shower to towel.Stop do not be in a hurry to get clothed let your skin breathe enjoy the sensations of air on your body.Do a little more each day you will be amazed.

Zombie Thread

maddiemookins16mum · 15/01/2017 17:31

Never saw my mum nude as a child. Once walked into the kitchen when my dad was having a strip wash and was mortified (quick glance of his bum, that image has never left me). By the way, it was about 1974 and there was no heating upstairs so I assume a wash in the kitchen was warmer.

I would often have DD in the bath or shower with me until she was about 6. I never go naked around her now, she'd be mortified. We do though go swimming and use the same cubicle but I try not to flash my lower half at her, not so bothered about the top half in fairness.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

maddiemookins16mum · 15/01/2017 17:32

Grrrrrrrr!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 15/01/2017 17:46

I personally do not want to be strutting around naked. I'd feel very odd. DP often strips off in our room and doesn't have an issue with me going into the bathroom whilst he has a shower. He has never needed to come in whilst I have a shower but I don't think I'd like it but that's because I hate how I look. I never lock the door though but that's a safety thing.

I'll be naked in front of DD if necessary but she is only 3.

CaraAspen · 15/01/2017 17:50

I think wandering around naked in front of your children and your parents and your siblings and assorted visitors is well weird.

urgh

CaraAspen · 15/01/2017 17:51

If you have pubic hair sprouting out all over the place makes the idea not only weird but icky.

CaraAspen · 15/01/2017 17:52

Correction:

CaraAspen

If you have pubic hair sprouting out all over the place, that makes the idea not only weird but icky.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 15/01/2017 17:56

Pubic hair just sprouts from the pubic area, surely?

I'm always naked when I'm getting changed.

CaraAspen · 15/01/2017 17:59

Not everybody chooses to leave it there.

Piglet208 · 15/01/2017 18:14

Am I the only one that is amused that there was more uproar over people entertaining guests wearing Pjs than there is over letting visitors in whilst naked Grin

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 15/01/2017 18:32

Entertaining guests in the nude is beyond weird.

acornsandnuts · 15/01/2017 18:35

All this nakedness around the house. Are you not cold. Do you live in the U.K. I just can't imagine being nude for any length of time in the country in or out of the house.

Stingray2008 · 15/01/2017 18:35

As a child i never saw my parents and was never aloud to run round naked as a child. I shared a room with my sister until i was 20 and we never saw each other getting changed from about the age of 7. I was bought up to believe being naked was shameful and even now as an adult have issues with it.

KayTee87 · 15/01/2017 18:39

zombie zombie zombie

birdybirdywoofwoof · 15/01/2017 18:56

Not just a zombie, a 2011 naked zombie Shock

ForalltheSaints · 15/01/2017 19:06

I expect the OP is clothed today if the weather is anything like where i am.

There is a time and a place for no clothes, and for me and the DP it is in a sauna/spa, rare though the opportunity is given that in the UK spas are with costumes. We don't wander around the house without clothes.

Greenifer · 15/01/2017 20:37

What on earth is 'icky' about pubic hair? It's just hair.

Yes, I know it's a zombie thread but that comment was really weird.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 15/01/2017 20:37

What's a zombie thread? Confused

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 15/01/2017 20:38

I've just realised. Never mind.

BadKnee · 15/01/2017 20:45

expatinscotland

You must all live in very warm houses Grin.

SauvignonBlanche · 15/01/2017 20:48

Now we've got naked fucking ZOMBIES Angry

n0ne · 15/01/2017 21:15

I'm not keen on getting naked in public but at home, sure. I bath/shower with DD(4) as does DH. If she started to get uncomfortable, we'd stop.
