I have just discovered Adele and her fantastic song Rolling in the Deep.
Why the f@@k is she sat down all the way through the video???
Is it because she is not a size 8 or under?

Because it's about the music, not dancing? "not allowed" to get up Hmm

pointydug · 28/01/2011 16:37

It's symbolic. I could go into it but I feel a bit tired.

I do like the dancer in the icing sugar. He/she is very good.

midnightexpress · 28/01/2011 16:39

I am slightly obsessed by 'Someone like you'. Such a lovely song.

CockneySparra · 28/01/2011 16:40

She always sits or stands still. Probably because she isn't a dancer, but I suspect there is also a bit of 'What the hell can we do with her? We can't have her sprawled semi naked across a bed like we usually do with young female pop stars' going on with the video makers. Sadly.

Btw - Adele is fabulous. I adore her.

scruffybird · 28/01/2011 16:42

I caught it bit of her on This Morning and she stood and delivered a great preformance

I love Adele her voice is so rich and pure wonderful to listen to. My favourite is still her version of Bob Dylans " to make you feel my love" I think she is gorgeous

belgo · 28/01/2011 16:43

I like the video. The simplicity makes you listen to the lyrics and music.

PlanetEarth · 28/01/2011 16:45

So this inspired me to look for the video, and it's fine by me. Love the song anyway, but it's great to see a woman in a music video who is fully dressed and not playing on her sexuality. I couldn't care less if she's just sitting on a chair!

CockneySparra · 28/01/2011 16:47

The thing is, she almost always sits in a chair. It's her 'thing'. She sits at gigs, too, a lot of the time. Maybe she just feels comfortable like that?

mutznutz · 28/01/2011 16:48

It's early days yet...she may end up posing for Nuts magazine for all we know.

Either way, I think she's fab.

NorthernGobshite · 28/01/2011 16:49

Its a video, and the concept was obv her sitting down. She stands during other performances. I don't think its about her weight.

DurhamDurham · 28/01/2011 16:50

Perhaps, just perhaps it's because that's what Adele wants to do. She might feel happier, more confident sitting down. If she was prancing around some people would be saying "Oh she's being made to do that, she'd be so much happier sitting down"

pointydug · 28/01/2011 16:52

She is in some sort of stately home with perfect, static pieces of furniture, beautiful, restrained but forgotten about.

There are little signs of movement - the pristine glasses of water, the drummer in a corner.

Then you have the wild-beyond-belief icing-sugar-dancer.

Appearances, emotions. Adele, striking in a chair, still but wild emotions.

Not about being a fat bird.

NorthernGobshite · 28/01/2011 16:53

And actually insulted that because she isn't a skinny bitch that everything she does has to be interpreted to being to do with her "weight".

A bit like an Ishiguro novel.

pointydug · 28/01/2011 16:55

yes, beers. We must be ever so arty.

ThePosieParker · 28/01/2011 16:57

Record companies must have a nightmare dealing with a size 12+ woman who is, wait for it, talented......she obviously hasn't got the same management as Cheryl Cole.

CockneySparra · 28/01/2011 17:37

She sits in , too. Nice vid.

God, I love that song. Her voice is beautiful.

CockneySparra · 28/01/2011 17:38

,,,and she looks amazing, if that matters

QueenLaQueefer · 28/01/2011 17:44

Isn't she supposed to be a Miss Haversham-esque figure?

QueenLaQueefer · 28/01/2011 17:45

In the video I mean. Which is stunning. God, she's amazing.

AuntieMaggie · 28/01/2011 17:47

check this out - love her version of Promise This
