Its Eastenders, which is permanently in some sort of unreality as far as the storylines go. Even Corrie is more realistic.

maybe filming in HD after the fire etc has added the extra room?

Ian Beale makes me nauseous a little bit. I love picking at EE and finding the loopholes/unbelievable coincidences. And no one has a washing machine in their house! Don't get me started.
