Another fruit shoot one...how much is too much £££ (cafe, single, small size)

Went to Waitrose cafe the other day. Shoot me for doing that in the first instance, but during the week they have these "children's lunchboxes" which are brilliant value, plus its clean, local, quick, not a major saga, and we needed milk.

Glad we cleared that up.

Anyway I got them a "fruit shoot" each - shoot me again (find a new spot though please). Orange for the lad, blackcurrant for the wee girl.

As I saw her banging it into the till it came up "Fresh juice £1.50".

Each, for the small size.

I pointed out that it wasn't "fresh juice" and that I suspect the average vodka jelly has seen more fruit in its time but she insisted that was the price and the correct category.

Do you think £1.50 is fair for a small sized fruit shoot?

By the way, there were little other "option" from a child's drinks point of view, the other drinks were poncey glass bottles of Elderflower bollocks and massive fizzy caffinated gubbins so best of a bad lot unless tap water I suppose, but honestly I dont think the odd Fruit Shoot in moderation is bad...apart from for my bank balance?

AIBU? What would/have you paid? Small size - not the tall one.

Shock I can get 4 small fruitshoots in Poundland for um.... well a pound! (and yes I buy them for DD sometimes, and no I don't care what others think of that). £3 for 2 of them is daylight robbery imo.

LOL at them being entered into the till as "fresh juice" Grin

They are expensive for what you get (half a glass of overly concentrated, artificially sweetened diluting juice), but they shouldn't be more than 70p.

I usually buy them because I'm too tight to spend the £1.50 for a bottle of proper orange juice Blush[evil mother]. I think she got the category wrong.

I would have made them make the DC a baby latte...and if they wouldn't I would have demanded a jug of extra steamed milk for my own coffee and then shared it between the kids. That and water.

I think rrp is about 70p? That is a rip off!

SecretNutellaFix · 26/01/2011 17:24

you could have nipped into the shop properly and got 4 for £1.69.

I just had a look on Waitrose deliver.

Soooo.

Do I write and complain or do I let it go...

Do you have the receipt? I would complain, in a nice way, that you believe you were overcharged.
