DH is set against it, but I don't see the problem.

DD wants a pair of these for her sweet sixteen birthday party.
I don't see the harm, they are afterall just a pair of shoes!! But DH is dead set against it. He has even got MIL in on the arguement against them. She's says "she'll do herself a mischief"

What do people here think? I'm right arn't I?

YOU ARE WRONG!

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 26/01/2011 16:56

why do you want your DD to aspire to be or even look like a stripper?

there is nothing nice about those shoes?

pumperspumpkin · 26/01/2011 16:56

My work firewall has categorised them as porn and adult material!

HowAnnoying · 26/01/2011 17:00

I have a pair for the bedroom, they are impossible to walk in and only any good for lying down. I'm guessing that you don't want your DD on the floor pulling provocative poses all night so YABU.

(Make the legs look fab tho!)

OTheHugeManatee · 26/01/2011 17:04

You are not right. Your DH is.

BackInTheRoom · 26/01/2011 17:11

proposterous a 16yo looking like a hooker Sad

ItsGraceAgain · 26/01/2011 17:16

Wearing barmy clothes because you think they're fashionable is part of being 16. You are a bunch of spoilsports!

Ladyofthehousespeaking · 26/01/2011 17:21
  • I had a pair almost identical to that..

I was 'dressed' as a angel and dancing on a podium though.

maybe yabu after all

ambarth · 26/01/2011 17:27

Stripper thing aside, they are downright dangerous. Could have a nasty fall.

KarmaDevil · 26/01/2011 17:34

I wore shoes like that when I was 15/16. I am suitably ashamed. [bblush] Although DSD has been wearing shoes like that since she was 15 (now 18) and there wasn't a damn thing we could do about it. Wouldn't have gone out and bought them for her though.

TotalChaos · 26/01/2011 17:38

Yabu, they look so impractical.

NetworkGuy · 26/01/2011 17:47

Are you sure she has not been dared to ask for them by her friends, and has made a bet (for a hundred quid or more) that she could talk her parents into buying them?

Sorry, but ignoring the [ouch!] cost for a minute, they look to be the least sensible for a 16yo.

If she uses FaceBook, or has a mobile, then will she be posing with those shoes and just some open crotch naughty panties after her 16th?

Has she already made up her mind to go into porn or lapdancing? (or something a bit more innocent, lest I offend every dancer, like Ladyofthehousespeaking )

They're ghastly, and well done DH for saying so. Call me a spoilsport, but I'd say they were in poor taste.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 26/01/2011 18:00

they are known round here as "follow me home and fuck me" shoes, only worn by girls who really want a one nighter, its an open and acknowledged nightclub code for "yes i'm up for it"

do you want your 16 year old being followed home by panting porn watchers? [bhmm]

totally inappropriate in my book, but hey, she's legal now so why not??? (please note that was sarcasm not approval)

seriouslycantbebothered · 26/01/2011 18:04

are you going to get her a pole to go with them lol

TeenageWildlife · 26/01/2011 18:07

Oh, scroll down from the picture of the shoes, there is a Long Shlong outfit for your DH! - He'lll come round to your way of thinkng if he's allowed to wear THAT!

methodsandmaterials · 26/01/2011 18:08

Do they come in five and a half?

FancyALittle · 26/01/2011 18:10

You could definitely get them cheaper.

StuffingGoldBrass · 26/01/2011 18:11

She's 16 not 6. Part of being a teenager is wanting, and wearing, daft clothes and footwear that your parents disapprove of.
THough to keep the peace at home it might be better to suggest that if she wants the things that much she saves up her pocket money for them.

ItsGraceAgain · 26/01/2011 18:12

1971: an insignificant town in the Black Country. Two 16-year-olds walk a mile to the bus stop, go out dancing and later, having missed the last bus, walk 8 miles home. They are both wearing shoes with 2" platforms and 5" heels, hot pants and smocks. One of those girls was me.

I'm sure we both looked absurd Grin But we never 'fell off' our shoes and I remember how much we enjoyed ourselves!

She won't be able to walk in those whilst pregnant.

Wonder how many of you have 16 year olds? Shoes are hideous but would let my daughter wear for her own party where she will presumably be safe on grounds that we have all made hideous fashion faux pas at tender age. Wouldn't pay that price though! Have you tried new look for vertigo inducing shoes?
