To expect the appointment to be made for the day I am available?

I am having a bit of trouble with my electricity meter. The timing is out, which means my heating will be being charged at standard rather than reduced rate electricity.

I have to speak to my electricity co, who in turn speak to the wholesaler as they own the equipment.

I was quite clear, I told two people 'make the appointment for a Wednesday, any Wednesday, as that is the only day I don't work.

I just got a phone call 'we have made the appointment for the first available, which is a Monday, but the wholesaler will phone you to arrange a time that suits you'.

A Wednesday suits me. They know a Wednesday suits me. Why not just make it the first available Wednesday and then it doesn'e need to be rearranged??

because all these things work in such automated ways and with such inflexible systems now that it actually CREATES extra work and hassle rather than saving it. Lots of places, including hospitals do this. They will make an appointment at some random time and then you have to ring to rearrange it. Why don;t they just ring you to arrange the first one? We need a GRRRRR emoticon.
