To report two infant age children walking to school alone

... to the head of the school.

This morning I saw two siblings (I assume) walking to school alone, the oldest looked about yr2 at the most and the youngest a reception child. I wanted to phone the school as there could be a number of reasons these children are walking alone, not all sinister but in my mind none good enough,. This is Bristol, a busy city, not the place to allow children to cross roads and negotiate traffic and people at the age of 6 or below, surely.

So we have 14 pages about Fcuk all, marvelous.
I bet the children are safely home tucking into their tea of sausage roll and fruit shoot as we speak Wink

FanellaFidge · 25/01/2011 16:27

BluddyMoFo - well if those kids come to some harm when walking alone to school again, at least the OP won't be racked with guilt that she didn't intervene.

Thank you to the few posters who haven't used this opportunity to sit in the normal bitchy MN camps.....

southmum · 25/01/2011 16:28

BackInTheRoom · 25/01/2011 16:29

mamatomany [bgrin]

ThePosieParker · 25/01/2011 16:31

Alt....I haven't said that the thank you means that they're running around trying to find these children, have I? TBH if you believe the press most people in your profession couldn't rescue a child on fire without a court hearing.

ThePosieParker armchair bullying?

ThePosieParker · 25/01/2011 16:32

Selfishly I wanted to ensure that someone somewhere would either dismiss thsi knowing that the children are perfectly fine or look into them if they aren't....I can't do anything else.

Why didnt you hang on until you got through to the school then?

ThePosieParker · 25/01/2011 16:35

Because I had to collect my dd.

OP posts:
FanellaFidge · 25/01/2011 16:35

southmum - I don't know what that means.

Biscuit
southmum · 25/01/2011 16:37

so why didnt you hang on and ring the school after you got DD?

Fanella - not to wory eh?

FanellaFidge · 25/01/2011 16:38

I'm not 'worying', thanks.

usualsuspect · 25/01/2011 16:39

There was no need for the op to mention the school was in special measures imo

ThePosieParker · 25/01/2011 16:39

What? SM, I have four dcs....I have to pick up dd, give her lunch, clear away lunch, get ds up from nap, collect boys from school.......I did not have time to glue myself to a phone all day.

ThePosieParker No Your NOT a bully!

I disagree with OP's on AIBU time to time but I don't judge the OP I merely give my opinion.

ThePosieParker · 25/01/2011 16:40

Yes, fucking outrageous to mention that on page 14 when people are bleating about overworked social workers...HT's jobs are a breeze.

OP posts:
bestmamaderwelt · 25/01/2011 16:41

Im stunned, is it expected that young children can navigate roads or judge who or what may harm them? No that is the job of parents. I just cant believe anyone would allow there child to walk anywhere alone. It upsets me when i see young children on scooters and the like who have sped of further up the pavement, roads are dangerous, Bristol is a city we are not liveing in Larkrise to bloody Candleford.

ThePosieParker · 25/01/2011 16:42

Alt....did you know all that before you became a social worker, because I don't know how any of it works.
