To expect the hospital to let me know if they change an appoint, ment?!

I am really mad about this!

Called this morning to find out roughly how long DSs appointment could take this pm, having been offered a lift home by Mum depending on when we are due out of there. Turns out they cancelled the appointment and rebooked it for 9am this morning.

We have received no letter, no phone call, nothing. I was basically called a liar by the receptionist so I insisted on being transferred to someone else who looked and could find no evidence of a letter being sent to inform me, and all letters are logged on the system. She told me this in a "I can soon prove you are a liar" way and then brought herself up short when there was nothing on there. She huffed and puffed and eventually apologised but clearly wasnt happy about having to!

So now we have missed the appointment this morning, got no appointment this afternoon and a fuck knows how long to wait for his replacement to be made. And he needs this as it is to take measurements before his operation for which he is high on the list and the date could come through at any time.

Oh and dont get me started on the fact that I would have known at 8:15 and might have managed to get there, had it not been for their fucking USELESS auto switchboard that never fucking works, and then when I finally did get through, the line wasnt answered despite me being assured that there was someone there!

Not a good start to the day all things considered Angry

I would write a letter of complaint immediately, to go in todays post, and expect a phone call from the consultant's secretary tomorrow with a new appointment in the very near future.

The administrator you spoke to should have organised this for you, rather than leave you in limbo like this.

NHS admin makes my blood boil too - their couldn't care less attitude and assumptions of deity. I'd like to see a few of them up against the wall in NHS cuts myself.

OMG, that's awful OP.

Why are they sending out letters to inform patients of change of appointments - our local hospital PHONES the patients to remind them of appointments or if there is a change. At least, you're more likely to get intouch with a person by phone, the post is unreliable! A phone call is cheaper.

A letter to an MP?

Complain and also think about calling their PALS service (here) to help you too.

So sorry you've been messed about like this.
