in skinny jeans...a friend keeps buying them for her, and as lovely a gesture it is its a total water of time and money as i then have to go back to the shop and exchange them for something she will actually wear.
ive known this friend for about 16 years and she knows i hate denim on babies ( all personal preference!) and that i also like ababies to be ababies for as long as they can. i have told her many times that its lovely that she thinks to get her things but could she possibly wait until she is at least 1 before buying adult clothing!!! so far she has bought her 12 pairs in varying colours, from different shops and it keeps happening! i really dont want to offend her...did think of saving them all up and passing them back to her as she is currently pregnant.

Its different tastes isnt it?
When she has her baby will you buy her a newborn crop top and jeggings? or a lovely hand knitted cardy and babygrow? bet its the latter and I expect she will not really like it either, but thats life! Smile

I would probably say something about how your DD's has loads of pairs of jeans bought for her now so not to buy any more as they won't get worn! You can't really tell people waht to buy as in my experience they just get what they want to get anyway.

YANBU. It's totally up to you what she wears, and as lovely and generous as your frind is being, she's not listening! I would have a look and see if at least one pair is wearable, put her in them so your friend can see, and then save the others to give back to her. Alternatively, if you have the receipts/time, swap them for what you'd use. Controversial, I know, but they're no good to anyone sat around gathering dust.

12 pairs??? Wow, that's pretty excessive. Definitely tell her you have enough now thank you but you're short on pretty little xxxxs (xxx being what you like). And yes, give them back - it's obviously her taste!

Also... I know this isn't really the point but babies will be babies whatever you dress them in. Putting them in skinny jeans doesn't 'stop' them being a baby.

itshappenedagain · 24/01/2011 17:09

kenobi hadnt thought of it like that! but dressing her like an adult she has enough time for that. i did want to ask her was she taking the piss...i asked what she needed for her baby and she said same as i did babygrows preferably in pastle colours...so then i was a bit Hmm. its seems weird that she wants my daughter dressed like a baby prostitute an adult when she want for her own!

YANBU. Skinny jeans look ridiculous on babies when they are in nappies.

TattyDevine · 24/01/2011 17:17

I am yet to see a prostitute who wears jeggings out on the beat.
