I am a slightly heavier lady, probably 2 stone overweight and in size 16. I am but dont think Im gross to look at. I am also on a weight loss plan so taking control.

Whenever I go to school or local functions, there is one lady who I catch looking at me in disgust. Once it was at the roll of fat that was caused by me sitting at an odd angle (and by the fact Im fat of course!) and yesterday she was looking at my arms. Its pretty rude.

Yeah I know Im overweight and theres only me to blame but surely people dont have to be so bloody rude!

I'd make a point of staring at her and making her feel as uncomfortable as she is with you.

fedupofnamechanging · 22/01/2011 18:17

No, they don't. No excuse for it imo. You could embarrass her by calling her on it. I am a bit confrontational, so probably would.

Remember that the problem is with her, for being such a nasty cow, not you.

PeachesandStrawberry · 22/01/2011 18:17

YANBU

I am in the same position.

She sounds rude.

theoriginalscrummymummy · 22/01/2011 18:17

I wouldn't stand for that! That's really mean of her. Next time you see her, go over and start a really lovely conversation with her, and say- "Have we met? I noticed you keep looking at me and wondered if we knew each other?" See what happens.

mutznutz · 22/01/2011 18:17

Are you sure you're not just being paranoid? I mean...maybe she thinks she knows you or something like that?

With so many people being overweight, it's an odd thing for her to stare surely?

If you were 12 stone over weight, then maybe.. but I would say being 2 stone overweight is hardly getting into obese territory...

size 16 is also not in the tent size dress rails either... its an average size.. unless you are 4ft tall...

PigValentine · 22/01/2011 18:23

Maybe she's jealous. Maybe you come across as very confident in your own skin, weight loss issues notwithstanding, and she wishes she could be the same. It's not uncommon :)

ThatsNotMyAlpaca · 22/01/2011 18:26

YANBU. Its not as if you are even that overweight!

If you have the balls i would ask her why she is doing it.

If you don't (and i wouldn't) i would just try to rise above it. Definatly don't feel like you have to order less food around her. It is her problem.

BendyBob · 22/01/2011 18:27

Say 'can I help you?' and be ever so 'nice'. Maybe there's something else she's upset aboutConfused

LadyOfTheManor · 22/01/2011 18:28

Stare at her crows feet...big hands, large nose, grey hairs/roots etc.

TattyDevine · 22/01/2011 18:29

She fancies you.

She wants to put her face between your breasts and go "blwahrahrhahahaha"

toddlerama · 22/01/2011 18:30

TBH, she probably has issues with her own body. I suffered from eating disorders for years and a hallmark was sizing everyone around me up and being a judgey little knobhead. I couldn't help it - it was the natural result of judging myself constantly. It turns outwards after a while. It is rude and you have every right to be offended, but I can't think of another reason why someone would be looking with 'disgust' at a 16!

porcine · 22/01/2011 18:32

lotm I wish i could but I think I am about 15 years older than her

OP posts:
PaisleyLeaf · 22/01/2011 18:37

Could she be jealous of you in another way?
Anything really - you're more liked? Your DCs are better at stuff? Somebody once said something good about you?

blackeyedsusan · 22/01/2011 18:38

oh and I thought I was doing really well getting back to a size 16... damn

porcine · 22/01/2011 18:38

I doubt she would be jealous of anything tbh..... (but thanks)

PaisleyLeaf · 22/01/2011 18:42

I just think it sounds like an insecurity on her part.

Rainydaze · 22/01/2011 18:48

YANBU. I agree that she seems insecure.

LadyoftheManor - you've just described my head! Grin

LadyOfTheManor · 22/01/2011 19:14

Ha ha ha. Female intuition eh?
