and some nice new features

such as go to last post read instead of trawling all through to find the last one you read

a "new" or "read" icon next to threads you have already seen

or do they already have them and i havent found them yet

its all a bit 1990s isnt it Grin - something like digital spy layout would be nice

OP posts:

The first rule of mumsnet is don't. Criticise.mumsnet.

HopeEternal · 22/01/2011 16:08

To go to the last post you've read, click on "Customise" at the top of the page and then enable "Bookmarks". When you reach the end of the thread or a point at which you want to leave the thread, just click on the little blue bookmark button in the bottom right hand corner of the post and wait until it's saved.

Threads I've viewed show as a different colour in the threads list from those I've not looked at.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 22/01/2011 16:08

Digital Spy is hideous. It gets on my tits every time I use it.

SacharissaCripslock · 22/01/2011 16:09

You click bookmark at the end of the last post you've read and next time you open the thread it takes you to it.

And threads change colour when you've read them.

Dude, pay attention!

MissBeehiving · 22/01/2011 16:10

humpf

mankymummymoo · 22/01/2011 16:11

I would love for the OPs posts to have a different coloured banner behind the name on a thread so you can skip past everyones comments to what is going on !

HopeEternal · 22/01/2011 16:12

You can do that from the Customise menu, Mankymummymoo.

mankymummymoo · 22/01/2011 16:15

Oh my god. So you can. im such a dunce!

Nope, you're stuck with sludge green. Grin

BeenBeta · 22/01/2011 20:23

For goodness sake - no more innovations please!

Some of us haven't mastered texting yet and the Twitter feed just about gives me a mental hernia. Grin

southeastastra · 22/01/2011 20:24

i like it as it is

mummyshreddingnora · 22/01/2011 20:28

wooo! Thanks for the bookmarks tip! Grin

BootyMum · 22/01/2011 20:36

Yeah, thanks for highlighting this Smile I have now learnt how to bookmark and how to highlight OPs comments. So useful!!!

TimeForACHEEKYWine · 23/01/2011 00:36

when i go to customise it takes me to change the way mumsnet looks, blue, dark blue, different colour links

where the hell is bookmark????

TimeForACHEEKYWine · 23/01/2011 00:39

Found it Blush

DoubleNegativePanda · 23/01/2011 03:44

If you muck it up with a lot of fancy shite, it's going to load much slower. One of the reasons I love mumsnet is that it's rather austere and it doesn't make make me motion-sick to look at it.

As evidenced above, most of the features people are asking for are already here...as long as you know where to find them Wink

thumbdabwitch · 23/01/2011 05:02

oh is that what the bookmark thingy is for! OF course it makes sense now when you think about it but I never worked it out Blush

OP - YABU - you don't like, go somewhere else.

KristinaM · 23/01/2011 05:09

Clevercloggs - maybe once you have been here for more than 48 hours you will work out how to use some of these features

Parsgirl · 23/01/2011 05:28

Thanks folks much easier with the bookmark thingy

differentnameforthis · 23/01/2011 05:44

Why does the bookmark thing only work in new. I hate the mumsnet 'new' layout!

thumbdabwitch · 23/01/2011 05:46

oh, does it? :(
I mean, I've never used it but I might have wanted to but I'm not switching from Classic just to use it.

Do love the option to highlight the OP's posts though, even if the colour has gone a bit murky recently (twas better before).

differentnameforthis · 23/01/2011 05:49

Well I have just switched to new & can't see a bookmark button anywhere....hmmm

dietcokes · 23/01/2011 06:45

Any tips for using mumsnet on the mobile version. Does bookmark still work?

dietcokes · 23/01/2011 06:46

It's an iPod with iPhone tech
