This is my first aibu, so please be gentle!

So, I was off into town with dd. She's 21 months. I gave my money to the bus driver and asked for a return. Unfortunately dd had put a 20p coin out of her ELC till into my pocket.

The driver gave it back to me to me and I apoligised, very embarassed. I then got my purse out to give him the correct change, still very red faced.

He then told me to get off the bus as I was trying to underpay and could be liable for a fine!

Ffs, I was so embarassed I could have cried! I am so temted to try and put in a complaint abouy him but I don't know if that would be going too far!

But you had a real coin instead?

IrritaGirl · 21/01/2011 19:38

Put in a complaint! Definitely not going too far.

Karaishere · 21/01/2011 19:39

Shock I would definately complain!

aPixie · 21/01/2011 19:39

YANBU that is pretty shitty.

I think I'd put in a complaint. How can you have been trying to underpay when you got your purse out to rectify the mistake.

Maybe he was having a bad day but still, that's crap service really.

ivykaty44 · 21/01/2011 19:40

YANBU

NeilsBoar · 21/01/2011 19:40

YADNBU.

CuppaNBicciePlease · 21/01/2011 19:41

Yes I had the money in my purse, he saw me get it out but still told me to get off the bus!

I am still red faced now!

stewmaker · 21/01/2011 19:43

YADNBU!!!!

GMajor7 · 21/01/2011 19:45

Whoa! What a miserable tosser! Definitely complain about this one. Not acceptable.

JumpOnIt · 21/01/2011 19:46

YANBU. What a horrible little man.

SauvignonBlanche · 21/01/2011 19:47

What an arse!

TheMonster · 21/01/2011 19:48

He must have been able to tell you were embarrassed. What a twat he is. ANyway, toy money is expensive and that plastic 20p os probably worth at least 30p!

How is the not smoking going? (it was you that was giving up, wasn't it?)

CuppaNBicciePlease · 21/01/2011 19:48

Thanks, I am still so mad and upset and feeling like a total arse, I wasn't sure if he was in the wrong or not.

I think I need to grow a pair! Grin

curlymama · 21/01/2011 19:49

He sounds like a twat.

CuppaNBicciePlease · 21/01/2011 19:50

Thanks BodyOfEyeore, I am still not smoking, it's killing me but I'm richer Grin

OP posts:
TheMonster · 21/01/2011 19:51

That's good news. Smile

TheDevilAndTheDeepBlueSea · 21/01/2011 19:53

Of course he's in the wrong!

When my dd was a baby, I took her into town in her pram and had to fold it to get it on the bus. I bought a return, but when I got on the return bus later, the driver told me that my pram wasn't allowed on the bus, even folded Angry Obviously I explained that it was perfectly fine on the way there, and that I had bought a return - but he kicked me off and I had to walk 2 miles home in the rain. Twat.

I complained to the bus company, but they cared not one jot I'm afraid.

Bus drivers make me laugh *
Why take a job that involves interaction with people, when you clearly hate..... erm, people.

* massive generalisation about to occur

Emo76 · 21/01/2011 19:53

What a mean bully. YANBU!

CuppaNBicciePlease · 21/01/2011 20:02

TheDevilAndTheDeepBlueSea, thats awful.

Bus drivers seem to vary so much. It's lovely when they actually get off their arse to help. Unfortunately I rarely encounter those ones.

OP posts:
TheDevilAndTheDeepBlueSea · 21/01/2011 20:03

Because they're aren't many of them about, Cuppa. They have to be the grumpiest, unwilling and churlish members of staff I have ever come across.

Apart from doctor's receptionists Grin

LastGivenWord · 21/01/2011 20:05

YANBU.

Report him.

Flisspaps · 21/01/2011 20:07

What an utter fucking wanker.

Him, not you.

CuppaNBicciePlease · 21/01/2011 20:07

Haha, don't get me started on doctors receptionists, I'd be here all night! Grin

RevoltingPeasant · 21/01/2011 20:08

Cuppa, how pathetic!! Angry

Did you challenge him or just cave?

I doubt anyone will ever do something similar to you again, as this guy is clearly a real weirdo, but if they do.... Ask for his full name and employee id no (whether he has one or not) and write anything he tells you down.

If you argue people are much less likely to do stuff like this... He is a bully and thought he could try it on! I bet if you'd looked outraged instead of embarrassed and snapped 'Don't be ridiculous!' he would've backed down.

MissQue · 21/01/2011 20:09

What a tosser! I hate bus drivers so much I learned how to drive.
