blop blop blop slurp

Mmmmmmmmmm! Puff pastry full of salt, about three bits of steak in a gloopy gravy and a side order of ............ vegetables (you thought I was gonna say "chips" admit it). Lovely - delicious and real peasant fodder.

thefinerthingsinlife · 21/01/2011 17:38

pie/meat in a tin is wrong

ProfYaffle · 21/01/2011 17:38

Ugh to tinned potatoes though. Vile.

Toast toppers - I'd forgotten them, I used to love them.

BetsyBoop · 21/01/2011 17:39

mmmm YAsoNBU

brings back lovely memories. My Mum always used to make me my favourite lunch on the last day of each school holiday, every time without fail it was
Fray Bentos steak & kidney pie with peas
Heinz treacle sponge and custard

yum yum Grin

think I might need to get some when I next go shopping!

Tramadol · 21/01/2011 17:40

Ohhhh - reminds me of sausages in a tin. Never see them now. You had to open both ends of the tin and push the six sausages out which were surrounded by fat, seperate them then fry. OMG when I think of the calories - but they were lovely.

Wilts · 21/01/2011 17:41

I love Frey Bentos pies, they are on offer in asda for £1 at the moment Wink

Dh virtually heaves if I have one, he insists I may as well be eating dog food.

I just love that soggy layer of pastry on them Grin

JoyceBarnaby · 21/01/2011 17:41

Minced beef and onions in a tin, potatoes in a tin, small carrots and peas - yes, you guessed it, in a tin. As someone has already said - proper caravan holiday food. Haven't had any in years, but I could really eat some now!!

friedtoacrisp · 21/01/2011 17:44

Boiled eyelids and snouts in brown gloopy gravy encased in toilet paper and industrial axle grease. Delightful.

SciFiFan · 21/01/2011 17:48

I also have two Steak & Kidney pies sitting in the cupboard (thanks to Asda's £1 a pie offer) Grin.

I'm lucky that my DH is also a chavtastic 70's child so I'm not alone when I eat them.

I can also recommend the S&K puddings which we had last week. They were yum! I dress them up with some veg to make myself feel better Smile.

usualsuspect · 21/01/2011 17:56

Tramadol...I loved those sausages haven't seen them for years

PatPending · 21/01/2011 18:02

Oi! - nothing wrong with proper corned beef!!

Love it in a sandwich I do (toasted bread).

Tinned ravioli was one of our "caravan foods" - fab!!

diddl · 21/01/2011 18:03

"They are great, especially with Smash!"

Oh yes-food for when no one wanted to cookGrin

Didn´t FB also do a steak & kidney pudding?

SecretNutellaFix · 21/01/2011 18:04

EWWW!!!!!!

Goblin puddings are just as bad as is smash

However I do admit to having cheese hamwiches for lunch.

PatPending · 21/01/2011 18:04

Actually YABU about kidney - yuk!
Such a bitter taste!

I have never eaten tripe - anyone tried it??

Hopelesslydisorganised · 21/01/2011 18:06

The pastry is why I like them.

Spam fritters at school were yummy but I would heave if I ate one now. Did anyone else notice how they squeaked when you stuck a fork in them due to all the oil.

Corned Beef in the food of gods... especially in thick crusty bread with a wedge of cheese and Gherkins and Peanut Butter

PatPending · 21/01/2011 18:11

See - I was with you up to the peanut butter Titsalina!!!

Like a bit of picallili on my corned beef!

Actually I have corned beef rather a lot on my sarnies - I bet my colleagues talk about me Blush

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/01/2011 18:19

I will eat anything in a sandwich... the other day I had Stilton, Peanutbutter. Jam and Pickled Onions... it was magical.

nameymacnamechanger · 21/01/2011 18:21

mmmm I love fray bentos pies - I have recently embarked on a diet and optimistically calculated how many weight watchers points they come to so I can eat the two I have in the cupboard Blush

ilovemyhens · 21/01/2011 18:22

I bawled him out and forbid him ever to do it again.

Deaddei · 21/01/2011 18:22

Dad used to do one with mash, peas and thick gravy.
Lovely.
I'mglad I'm not the only common person on tonight.
