Oooh yes! Hot from the oven and dripping with butter. Served with a cup of tea.

I have to go past the local bakers this afternoon, and I just know I'll be thinking about your post. They are baking constantly, and the loaf will still be warm when I get home. (Checks fridge for butter)

fanny I read that as you're doing the 'drunken diet'....I was almost interested in doing it Grin

Hobnobs - we had a similar problem at the dses old primary school - there was the most wonderful local bakery opposite. They sold delicious home made bread and sausage rolls, and iced buns - but their piece de resistance was doughnuts filled with tiptree raspberry jam. I have never tasted a better doughnut anywhere.

It got to the point where I'd have to leave my purse at home to help me resist temptation (and the begging of the dses on the way home from school).

emmanana · 21/01/2011 12:23

Will you stop it Hobnob? Smile Smile Smile
There's a lovely deli two doors down from the bakers, I will now be forced to go in and buy some lovely Parma ham cakes cheese chocolates essential herbs for my healthy chicken casserole.

Mutznutz.
Try the Cider Vinegar diet.

Bottle of Magners
Fish and Chips, liberally sprinkled with vinegar....

JaneS · 21/01/2011 12:32

Mmmmm .... I hate you people ...

Smile

I especially love the smell when you have fresh-baked brown bread and the butter melts into it ... my mum makes it with wheatgerm cooked into the top so it's all extra-crunchy and yum.

With M&S Scottish salted butter. Delicious.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 21/01/2011 12:33

emmanana That sounds like my kind of diet Grin

Anyone like some Jam to go with their bread?

The grandchildren insist on taking Mum fruit picking every year.
'Only fill your baskets to the top kids'
They hear this as 'see who can pick the most'
It costs her a fortune every time and DM is nnow caretaker of Europe's Jam Mountain. The whole street eat Grannys strawberry jam!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 21/01/2011 12:50

ooh Jam!!

YANBU. I had to take the train to school in the eighties and the service was shite. A hot freshly baked bread roll with melted butter and (bizarrely) salad cream set me up for the day.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/01/2011 19:17

I hate you all. we only have greggs in our town.
