Look I'm not 90 years old but have a ton of thankyous for birthdays and xmas to do and why is stationery so expensive?
Forgive the sadness of the question.
Is there anywhere I can get it at less than 40p per card?
I do make my own as well but you need to have some put by.

(I don't respect myself for posting this I really don't)

I feel you pain - last year I found at my local Tesco packs of 10 perfectly respectable and nice "Thank You" cards with envelopes for a reasonable amount (I think it was a couple of quid).

The Works do 'buy one get one free' on nice packs of 10 cards, normally £1.99 each.

I got 50 cards with envelopes from Hobbycraft for 4.99
