I become quite apoplectic when forum posts contain the word 'simples' and find myself almost hyperventilating when the last two words of a post are... 'end of'
AIBU?

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 15/01/2011 00:34

Yes but if you have argueddebated the point 1000 times before and can't keep your gob shut it does get tedious

AgentZigzag · 15/01/2011 00:36

And if someone says to search for the threads that have done before about a subject, nine times out of ten the titles are something like 'AIBU to think that...', so impossible to search for.

GreenEyesandHam · 15/01/2011 00:37

Gavel being a judges hammer...ummmm...toffee hammer thing lol

Imhotep · 15/01/2011 00:37

'Enjoy!!' is the one that personally gives me the flaring nostrils!

Admittedly it is usually only seen at the end of a recipe. I don't know why it bugs me so much...

mutznutz · 15/01/2011 00:38

I wouldn't bother searching for bloody threads that have been done before...the way I look at it is if it's boring someone they can feel free to piss of at any time.

Or has all the years on the internet made me a bit tough skinned? Blush

usualsuspect · 15/01/2011 00:40

I know ...I think mn is hard on new posters ..its the way it is on forums ...I do try and keep my mouth shut Blush

mutznutz · 15/01/2011 00:43

I should probably try harder lol Blush

usualsuspect · 15/01/2011 00:43

Yes mutz ..shut yer big trap Grin

AgentZigzag · 15/01/2011 00:46

It's always worth starting a thread.

The thing which I love about MN is the total unpredictablity of the way it'll go.

'AIBU to stop my 5 YO DD from going near the fire' will descend into a row about how andrex is better than the other top leading brand of bog roll Grin

Love it.

mutznutz · 15/01/2011 00:47

But I've had part of my soul removed to make room for all this cynical sarcasm....it's only fair I share it on the interweb Grin

If anything it would be a waste of NHS money not to...and you know how angry that's going to make the MNetters!!

mutznutz · 15/01/2011 00:50

Agent at times it takes every bit of strength inside not to say "Yes you are being unreasonable...stick the child's hand in the fire...that'll learn 'em" Shock

usualsuspect · 15/01/2011 00:51

well thats what I mean ..you know how to make the Mnetters angry ...if thats what you use it for fair enough ...but others use it for support

thefirstMrsDeVere · 15/01/2011 00:53

I hate 'rant over' as well. Not always. Only when it comes after something a bit sappy.

If its a really good rant I can let it go Grin

Simples is a bit annoying but I do like those merecats, I cant help it Blush

mutznutz · 15/01/2011 00:55

No I jest really. I know people use it for support and I understand that...but it's the people who use it purely to want a certain opinion or to have others blow smoke up their arses that amuse me.

Really what's the point in asking if you're being unreasonable if you cant handle the answers?

usualsuspect · 15/01/2011 00:57

AIBU is not MN ..the support on here is amazing sometimes ...

mutznutz · 15/01/2011 01:02

Yeah I realised that last night with the thread where the lady needed milk for the baby she'd been given to look after...truly touching the amount of people offering support and help Smile

usualsuspect · 15/01/2011 01:06

I'm never sure if you are taking the piss or not mutz Smile

mutznutz · 15/01/2011 01:10

Really? No I'm not taking the piss...I mean it. It was truly touching the way everyone rallied around.

I am a piss taker by nature, but I do have a serious side lol (doesn't everyone?) and it was really nice to see people putting themselves out Smile

usualsuspect · 15/01/2011 01:12

I'm a piss taker by nature too ...too sarky by far

usualsuspect · 15/01/2011 01:18

but I stay off the serious need support threads and understand totally that some posters need support, and get it, and I respect the support they get

WimpleOfTheBallet · 15/01/2011 01:27

YANBU.....even that annoys me.

"Oh YANBU, YANBU!" twittered the mindless idiots.

I also dislike the overuse of things like "Toxic" and "Boak" that one really gets me! I mean...what IS that? BOAK. What an ugly word!

There are phrases on here which are part of the language of the group...such as "I am HACKED off" and "That makes my teeth itch."

ANd I can't bear any of them!

AgentZigzag · 15/01/2011 01:39

Blimey wimple, how can you bear to be on AIBU if you hate people saying YANBU and twittering mindless idiots??

ChippingIn · 15/01/2011 03:29

Mutz - I find it quite uncanny, you and I can post identically on most things, to the point where I wouldn't know which of us had written it, if someone read it out - othertimes I read your posts and think WTF? How can we be so alike, yet so different??

I will post if some of us are having a good discussion then one of the predictables comes in and posts the same old crap again, especially if it's clear they just want a row.

I try to be good and not say things like 'Well on the other 5 gazillion threads it's ended like this...'

MommyMayhem · 15/01/2011 03:34

The things that annoys me most, is when people don't actually say what the thread is about, so you waste time clicking on it to find that you are not that interested in the subject matter. For instance, "do you ever...?". There is no clue what it is about. But curiosity always gets the better of me, and most of the time it is not something that I am interested in.

ChippingIn · 15/01/2011 03:36

MM - yeah, that's a bit frustrating!

Do any of you ever get the urge to reply only to what is in the title and not actually read the post... I do, but I resist.
