I'll breastfeed where I bloody well want when my baby is hungry!

Following on from another thread that got the old cogs whirring, I am always saddened by the fact that some people have a problem with women breastfeeding in public and expect bf mums to 'hide away' because it makes them feel uncomfortable.

I will always bf my baby where-ever and whenever she wants a feed and if someone doesn't like the fact that I am giving her amazing milk with amazing benefits they can do one!

I suppose some must be true, but in general I take all stories about women getting strife for BF-ing in public with a pinch of salt.

TBH I think a lot of them are completely made up.

toddlerwrangler · 14/01/2011 13:05

Ahh, have done a bit of reasarch.

You are an odd one, arn't you OP? I simply love the way you think you disply cutting wit, when in fact, you just look like a giant knob.

Can I please ask for clarification on the term 'screech', as it fascinates me? Am I screeching now? OR IS THIS SCREECHING? WHAT ABOUT THIS?

Lets play OP bingo. My money on is on her next two posts containing the words:

Screech
Boaring
Dear (I am afraid I am goigng to bend the rules and include 'dearie' under that one)

And I would like to claim a bonus point for being called a twat, if you please.

toddlerwrangler · 14/01/2011 13:09

BeerTricksPotter - actually, you're right. I do feel a bit sorry for OP as well. Clearly something going on there :(

pommedeterre · 14/01/2011 13:12

Ha! Ha! Ha! Just read this entire thread it is hilarious! People get so worked up, is it even about the topic of breastfeeding anymore?
I would have to agree with Msklo. People still feel the need to hide breastfeeding as if it is something to be ashamed of. British culture is extremely uptight and prudish, and there is definately a stigma attached to breastfeeding. Until society makes it more acceptable for breastfeeding, mothers will feel embarrassed or ashamed to do so.
I've breastfed all 3 of my kids, and do get the occassional look or comment, but I've become immune to it now and couldn't care less. With my first I was embarrassed though and wished there was somewhere private I could go in public (other than a toilet?!) to feed myDC.

Toddler - have you seen how many times she's used the word hilarous?

My money is on that one. I'm finding the OP hilariously hilarous.

GetOrfMoiLand · 14/01/2011 13:22

Oh isn't the OP a lovely, charming and erudite soul.

I do so wish she could be my friend in real life.

nowonthepill · 14/01/2011 13:24

Mumsnet turns people weird

ChickensFlyingUnderTheRadar · 14/01/2011 13:24

What's with all the 'believing' in bf? Is it a religion?

GetOrfMoiLand · 14/01/2011 13:25

I am starting to think that only mouthy Vanessa Feltz type characters nature (like the OP) get any looks and comments for public BF.

That is because they are sat there with a spotlight over their tits and looking gimlet eyed at everyone sat around willing someone to say something/look askance so they can sefl righteously be scandalised at the PRUDISH ANTI BF BRITISH SCUM PUBLIC

The rest of us just got on with bf like normal people, and didn't feel the need to have a Glee type chorus of approval.
