If I went on a summer holiday with a French company (Club Med) would I be OK bfing around the resort? Dd will be 1 or 18 months if we go at the end of the year. I

I know from some posters here and from a friend who lives in Paris that attitudes in France are not the same as here and, while I pretty much think screw anyone who objects to be bfing I don't want to spend a holiday in that frame of mind and would probably just decide to go elsewhere if it's going to be an issue.

Does anyone know if IABU to think it'll be OK?

Never had anything but extremely positive experiences when BFing in France. People will routinely come up and congratulate you for bfing and tell you what a wonderful thing you are doing. Good luck, hope it goes well.

I fed discreetly in a fairly nice restauraunt in 1997 and there was no comment made at all. When feeding out and about nobody seemed to take any notice, I am sure you will be fine

They might look at you oddly and mutter about 'maternal intensif' but noone will tell you off or ban you as long as you're relatively discreet. I quite often see women BFing in the supermarket here openly but it's not mainland France so some attitudes are very different.

Heck I'll be BFing all over the place, including in church!

Club Med isn't that representative of France, though and it might depend a bit where you go.

Yeah I'm just taking the temperature really so I can factor it in to the plan. That 'maternal intensif' is what I had understood to be the issue...

We were in the Dordogne this summer and DD (then 6mo) was always on the boob. I fed on benches, in restaurants, in a chateau... and never had a problem or felt uncomfortable. Of course, i may have just been an oblivious tourist! Good luck
