YADNBU! I have to mute iT everytime it comes on!

TheCrackFox · 12/01/2011 21:16

It drives me insane. They should get her to re-do the voice over.

YANBU

NinkyNonker · 12/01/2011 21:21

Yanbu. I get reliably irate every time it comes on.

Ormirian · 12/01/2011 21:22

No. you are not! DD put a cushion over my face last time so I wouldn't be able to rant.

Meglet · 12/01/2011 21:24

yanbu.

I cannot watch it and turn the sound down every time it comes on.

MissBeehiving · 12/01/2011 21:28

YANBU. AARGH.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 12/01/2011 21:29

YANBU - I hate it. It makes me not want to use Thomas Cook.

woolymindy · 12/01/2011 21:33

EEEEW the Redknapps...... dreadful dreadful dreadful - My DH swears at the telly everytime it is on

NetworkGuy · 20/01/2011 09:44

YANBU - did not see this thread but posted my comment on how I scream "The word is IT" at the TV when that comes on.

I hope I won't offend anyone by questioning where in Essex they are meant to come from, but yesterday night I noticed by chance that soon after the offending advert (my 'mute' button is dead and they sounded as chavvy as ever) there was some other short ad and then another (short) Thomas Cook advert starting with the word "IT" (enunciating the T with great clarity) and I wonder if the bad one was a ploy to get those who notice talking about the firm...

I think it backfired on them as the agency may have not properly negotiated for these always to be playd as a pair, so maybe in some other slots or on other channels, only the 'bad' one is being played, and swings our view only in the negative direction...

NetworkGuy · 20/01/2011 09:51

I searched just now (sad, I know) to see if some marketing papers or agencies were congratulating the firm for the TC ad but saw comments suggesting the Redknapps (outside my knowledge, not into following so-called 'celebs;) may have been paid 500K and TC is said to have seen a 15% rise in bookings...

TC laughing all the way to the bank, while really people should have left them 500K out of pocket for that trashy ad, IMO.

TheEvilDead2 · 20/01/2011 09:58

"it" is just a shit advery and makes me cringe in general.

NetworkGuy · 20/01/2011 10:01
has a spoof version which talks about "It" as well, but other than that, is completely different :)
pointissima · 20/01/2011 10:18

Ghastly

taffetacat · 20/01/2011 10:29

If you're going to criticise it, you should really spell it right, darling. Wink

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 20/01/2011 10:35

YANBU. They sound infantile. And a bit fick.

NetworkGuy · 20/01/2011 10:36

Guardian has some interesting comments, like which generic TC holiday was it (someone suggests that filming may have taken place on a fairly exclusive beach near Cape Town). One person complains about the missing "T". Others query why their children were not with them... since it is portraying a package holiday of sorts...

Oooops - the 500K was from a news item in March 2010 for a previous advert. Also, in 2009 TC made a loss of 81.5 million, so I guess another .5 would make no odds to them !
