My 20's have passed me by playing frumpy mummy.

Just looking through friends facebook pages and some of them look so much fun!

I wanna feel brave and young and full of life. But I want to be safe so no jumping out of planes for me.

I did do zorbing a couple of months ago but that is as brave as I get.

So how can I go from slummy to yummy at 30??

I'm starting by doing something about those stray hairs that keep growing out of my chin Grin

What is it exactly that makes you feel 'frumpy'?

Maybe you just need to get out more - whenever I have these moments I try to make a plan to catch up with non-baby friends or do a non-baby activity (cinema? Swim? Meal out?) and that tends to liven me up a bit.

Tbh I think that making some small changes to ensure you have a bit of non-mummy time (even a few hours a week) will make MUCH more of a difference to you than extreme sports! And is more sustainable in the long run. Why not ask for three hours babysitting a week for your birthday month from partner / parents / siblings / close friends?

Get a life and stop posting on Mumsnet. That should take about ten years off you! :o

donkeyderby · 12/01/2011 15:13

Speaking as someone who is approaching 50, you ARE young!

Your friends will probably start having babies in their 30's, when you are just having your second youth as you get more freedom. Perhaps your friends are already desperate to settle down and the pictures don't tell the full story.

MrsBananaGrabber · 12/01/2011 15:15

I gave birth on my 30th, 4 weeks ago.....so i'm ignoring it and am spending this year being 29 again Grin

nickelbabysnatcher · 12/01/2011 15:16

i'm 34.

since i turned 30, i have done more giggling, girly snogging (not snogging with girlies, but snogging like you describe to your friends as a teenager), tickling and running around like a child than i ever did before.

That's all to do with lifestyle and frame of mind, though.

I feel free because i'm not being judged on what i need to attain by now.

buy some new clothes (or get them given to you as a pressie), put your hair in pigtales and suck a lollipop. Grin

Chil1234 · 12/01/2011 15:17

Easy. Hang out with old people!

FindingStuffToChuckOut · 12/01/2011 15:18

err you are young love!!!! Grin

AbsofCroissant · 12/01/2011 15:19

For a start, stop looking at friends' pages on FB. Stuff on FB is the biggest work of fiction since Michael Jackson said he hadn't had plastic surgery.

This will be the start of a "I don't really care what others think" type attitude that can, if applied in a reasonable manner, be quite liberating and youthifying

bronze · 12/01/2011 15:20

I'm feeling exactly the same. I've spent my 20s having four kids and though lovely anf fun not exciting in quite the same way.

time4bed · 12/01/2011 15:22

Oh your life is just beginning believe me!! 30's and beyond are the most comfortable- in- your- skin years because you either do something about any issues or realise they were not worth the worry in the first place!!

Have fun ;)

amazonchick · 12/01/2011 15:22

LOL at lollipop.

I know I AM young. I was youg fit and healthy but I have just come out of hospital with compliations with my heart. I feel so old.

I am just gonna ignore my birthday LOL

nickelbabysnatcher · 12/01/2011 15:32

Noooo! don't ignore your birthday!!

Have a proper party - invite your friends round and have sandwiches and jelly and icecream and pass the parcel (obviously all this sutff has to have alcohol involved!)
have a silly time and don't worry about age!

montmartre · 12/01/2011 15:36

Bronze- Happy Birthday!

2cats2many · 12/01/2011 15:41

You are bloody young! I'm 40 soon and 30 seems like a long, long way away...

In my experience, your 30s are much more fun than your 20s anyway.

CarrotsAreNotTheOnlyVegetables · 12/01/2011 15:45

You are young FFS!

30 is just a distant memory for me.

Now you have got the looking after small kids out of the way you can look forward to having the time of your life now you are still young!

Put yourself first more, treat yourself - you deserve it!

Don't ignore your birthday. Celebrate!

valiumredhead · 12/01/2011 15:56

OMG I have just turned 40, 30 is a baby still Grin

kenobi · 12/01/2011 16:05

How young do you want to feel?

Because I can always dock your pocket money and send you to bed early, young lady...

lovemy2babies · 12/01/2011 16:32

I'm the same age as you and have decided to socialise more with friends once the little ones are in bed
Take up a hobby
Get fit
Try and do an adventure holiday next year (just me)
Have gone shopping and updated some if my clothes

Have also started to wear basic makeup like mascara and lipgloss so nothing over the top makes me feel glamerous
Also I love wearing red nail varnish on my toes - ultra glam for me!

Take time to rediscover what you like. If you like what your friends are doing join in with them

How about starting a course where you can meet people and start a new life for yourself?

Stangirl · 12/01/2011 16:37

I loved turning 30 - spent another 5 years clubbing, gigging, going to festivals and getting hammered. Any chance your childcare responsibilities will allow for any of that? I find getting irresponsibly, face-down-in-gutter, rat arsed once in a while blows the cobwebs away.

strandednomore · 12/01/2011 16:37

You are as old as the man you feel.

(and you're still just a baby anyway - you are about to enter the fabulous 30's, you'll love it).

nickelbabysnatcher · 12/01/2011 16:39

oh stranded please don't say that! DH is 49

amazonchick · 12/01/2011 16:42

I did start feeling old when DD said it was sick for me to comment on the looks of one direction!!!!

Suddenly felt very dirty Blush

Try http.www.fyeoportraits.com

My friend and I had photoshoots (she'd just turned 40) and it made us feel like the most gaw-juss women on the planet! And whenever I feel like a frumpy mummy, I look at the photos and it cheers me up no end!
