to expect some response from Ikea

We visted Ikea Milton Keynes over Christams. While we were there, we had our car cleaned inside and out.

Our car has 3 stage 3 carseats on the back seat.

The cleaners removed all three seats to clean under them (fair enough) and then placed them back on the rear seat without re-attaching them or telling us!

When I braked this weekend all three seats came flying forward, with the faces of our children hitting the back of the seats in front and injuring one of them.

I have written to Ikea, but no response...
What do you think?

Think YABU and should have checked before putting children back in.

YABU you should of checked but how did you get your children in them without noticing. I was really anal when mine where in car seats and checked the tightness of the fitting at least once a week.

I think that...

  1. you've not given Ikea long enough to respond to your letter / email
  1. you'll probably find it's not Ikea that cleaned the car, but a franchised valet company who pay to work from the Ikea car park. You need to complain to the company who did the cleaning, not Ikea
  1. you should have checked the seats were fitted correctly when you strapped your children in, for the first trip home from Ikea and every subsequent trip.

Whilst I can understand your shock, presumably the seats where left undone so that you could fasten them properly. I wouldn't expect any car valet to be able to do up a car seat that they were unfamiliar with.

YABU your DC's safety is YOUR responsibilty, if you knew that they had been cleaned under YOU should have checked they were fitted correctly.
