I read the thread when it was all happening but I still don't understand what it's meant to signify in other threads IYSWIM.

It was meant to be used to diffuse heated threads or as a response to a particularly mad post/poster. But as its actual use was never made clear everyone uses it in their own waym

As a result there will be threads for the next 200 years asking what it is to be used for.

Yes I love the - I find myself yearning for it on other websites. It's probably my most used emoticon, although I do enjoy a cheeky .

It's totally pointless and makes me angry as people have been asking for various new emoticons for months, if not years, and that one shows up within days of a completely stupid and sort of mean and not particularly funny situation.

I read the thread recently and enjoyed it. Have a wee smile to myself any time I see pombears in the shop now. But don't see the point in the emoticon either.
