That is, my parents.

A thread below reminded me of this.

My mother was vile when we were kids. We know now that it was hormonal mainly, although she does have a short fuse anyway and is quite controlling. But she totally denies anything bad ever happened!

She never lost her rag, or if she did it wasnt her fault. And she makes me and my sister out to be liars!

Tell me it isnt just us and IANBU to be fed up with it!

It is not just you, my mother done something pretty horrific when I was 13, she still shows no remorse and feels she did nothing wrong.

It is avoidance - she doesn't remember it the same way you do, and she doesn't want to be reminded of it, let alone talk about it in case she really hears the truth as you remember it.

Why does the subject keep coming up now you are adults?

My mothers the same she forgets what my dad and her where like I remember getting called all sorts of things by them, she remembers everything through rose tinted glasses.

YANBU, there are plenty of mothers (and fathers) like this. My mother thinks she was a wonderful mother Hmm

Lady, its something my sister said a couple of years ago that came up as a result of a conversation about something else. I agreed with her as I was there when it happened and mum went mad, refusing to accept the incident happened at all, never mind the way we said it did.

Every so often mum will bring in it up, like a scab she cant stop picking. She will shoe horn it in to a conversation about something else and say that Dsis and I make things up!
